Logic, reason and fact do not supersede human nature. Ignorance reigns without justice.

I honestly don't feel rewarded or encouraged enough to even play my max levels.  Granted I absolutely love the game and the time it took to get there.  The main factor in this is the "new system" way of things in that I don't want to relearn everything there is to know about the end game of a themepark, as I'm already invested in the other versions of such.  I don't want to take the time to learn about ectos, fractals, events, etc.  I just want to play the game and feel like it's time well spent.

Right now I feel as though GW2 has the same elite society that FFXIV boasted in that high end guilds knew about everything the moment they occurred, from an NPC spawning, where all the drops were, and even that one bug that they all exploited before it was fixed within a 12 hour time frame (that is not to say Arenanet doesn't punish exploiters, but as an example of the type of community).  There's just so much to learn when you're at max level and few people / places willing to teach you on a fundamental level.

Now, if they sent me several in game mails once I hit max level with details on what I could do next (while pointing the way), I might be more inclined to do this myself.  There is nothing wrong with how it is right now, but I think a lot of the end game woes people experience comes from this and they quickly forget how well the game is made and the time they had getting to that point in the first place.

With the original Guild Wars I pretty much knew everything there was to know about end game the moment I hit level 20.  In fact, you hit level 20 towards the beginning of each campaign, and just follow one point to the next on the world map to get to the next mission (with quests here and there).  Then there was hard mode repeatable content in the form of each story mission (unlike it just being a play once and it's over thing like in guild wars 2) along with titles to earn, reputation to grind and new stories to partake in in quick amounts of time.  There was vanquishing the entirety of maps in normal and hard mode, gaining experience and reputation solo without them trying to alter nice grinding spots so you have to funneled elsewhere without giving specific examples... etc.

I just don't enjoy the end game of Guild Wars 2 because of all of this.  It's why I'm still sub'd to many other MMOs, including WoW, which pretty much has a light show every time you unlock something.  Level up?  A giant screen appears telling you what you unlocked, and the UI of it flashes.  Interested in learning about a dungeon or raid?  Click a single button at it tells you about the raid, each boss, what each boss is able to do (and what to look for), the loot they drop and what to expect next.  It's just a way of making things more accessible that I think is genius as it has players sticking around longer, plus makes them lazy when it comes to other games that don't offer it.

When faced with strife or discontent, the true nature of a man is brought forth. It is then when we see the character of the individual. It is then we are able to tell if he is mature enough to grin and bare it, or subject his fellow man to his complaints and woes.

Also now that the level scaling has been adjusted more I get decent loot for salvaging even in 1-15 zones. I'm not the type to do dungeon runs over and over but so far have had no issues getting exotic gear just doing my normal playstyle and playing how I want to play. The new dailies are nice as i get a good chunk of karma plus a laurel and at the end of this month we will get selectable dailies to make it even easier to finish how we want.. It also sounds like the guild quests being added will have its own sets of rewards added as well.

On a side note i honestly have only spent $30 on this game since i purchased the box because the CS really has nothing i want/need aside from more bank/bag space.. guess that's a good and bad thing

I want my reward to be fun. And currently low level level grind isn't fun. I rather it be removed or option to skip levels in PvE. Like a SoR that WoW did. Leveling isn't a fun reward.

it's not I agree, they need better rewards for loot from secret chests, zone completion, events. None of those things in GW2 actually give anything that is worth more then 2 silver honestly.

I liked MMOs better when gamers didn't play them, and just geeks did.

This game is extremely fun until you hit lvl 80 and quickly realize that you either farm Orr, or roll with the zerg in WvW. I'm hoping they add something that will make me actually want to keep playing. There isn't enough carrot on the stick for me.

Playing: ESO, Hearthstone and DayZ

Played: AC1, AC2, AO, AoC, CO, CoX, DAoC, DCUO, DN, EVE, EQ1, EQ2,
FE, FFXI, FFXIV, FF, GW1, GW2, Istaria, L2, LoTRO, MO, MxO, NW, Rift, RoE,
Ryzom, SB, SWG, SWTOR, TERA, TSW, WAR, WoW, WURM...

i can see people wanting more of a carrot since that's what most are used to in MMOs.. although they are adding the guild quests this month so well see how those turn out. I do a fair share of WvW and only run with a set group of about 6 or 7 of us so following the zerg is not required at all to enjoy your time in WvW.. they also talked about adding a progression system with WvW specific skills in march so hopefully that will give people a lot more incentives to play WvW. Also why farm Orr? why not run some fractals? or finish exploring and work on getting karma/gold in other places you have not seen yet

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. Yeah, I'm having a good time, and I really like the recent changes.  I haven't done any dungeons yet, but I kind of like the random dailies. The Daily Dodger really has made me better at dodging. Since I've started doing that daily, I've realized how many unneccessary huge blows I've been taking.

My highest character is a L53 Guardian, but I am experimenting with the other professions as well. I think I really like the Mesmer, which I just got to L20 last night. My daughter and I formed a guild and got a guild stash built, but I think we might start looking for an established guild once we settle on a profession that we will play to 80.

So yeah, I'm having a great time with PVE, but I would still like to see improvements to SPVP. My daughter and I really like the SPVP too, but we were SO disappointed that we couldn't fight on the same team, even when grouped.

EDIT: spelling

Hot-join SPvP is all about the chaos and to keep some semblance of balance they try to make both sides have equal numbers which is why you can't always be guarateed to be on the same side but you can attempt to switch sides every now and then 'cos people leave the fight quite a lot during a match even when the side they are on is winning.

This is not a game.

what low level grind? this is one of the only MMOs out with a horizontal leveling curve.. even from 70-80 you never need to "grind"

Developers confirmed that the pre release info on that was misleading. Horizontal leveling doesn't start till level 30. Before then its a uphil curve.

doesn't feel like it at all when playing.. going from 1-30 for me felt pretty much the same as 30-60.. and even so with how many things give you decent XP in this game really couldn't see how you could consider it a grind at all

How you can think that 20/30 hours to get to level 30 is a grind when you get xp from loads of sources is beyond me and those hours are at my levelling pace which is always slow (I get distracted ea.... Ooooo look shiny)

I would be more interested in more different drops from mobs out in the world, rare weapon and armour skins. or rare recipes and a like.

Kinda miss that feeling that you use to have when you played EQ and EQ2 and you looted some mobs, you never knew what you would find.

I don't have that feeling in GW2 at all, I know what loot I'm expected to get.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

The best loot system I've seen for that is Asheron's Call. All items had random stats, there was no fixed stat items "of the Berzerker" or "of the Mage" or whatever. This could result in totally weird and useless items, but also utterly amazing and rare stat combos which would sell for millions to other players.

Playing now: WoW, Landmark, GW2

Top 3 MMORPGs played: UO, AC1 and WoW

Honorable mentions: AO, LotRO and GW2.

Nope not at all. Screw diminishing returns, they only exist to get you to buy gems from the store. It doesn't help that the only thing really worthwhile for gems besides gold conversion is bank/inv space, the rest of the gem store is crap no one needs.

odd i have never felt I "needed" to buy gems to convert to gold ever.. there are plenty of ways to make decent amounts of gold

The rewards are nice, but I hate that GW2 resorted to a daily style grind like WoW.

well with the new patch coming dailies will be selectable from a list so you can set the ones you normally would complete on an average playthrough anyway and just play like you normally would

The only gem-to-gold conversion I've ever made was at the game's release. I converted gems to 1 gold so that my first character wasn't annoyed in buying basic supplies. But it was my choice and even that was definitely not required to play the game, it was just personal comfort.
