2 things, you have to say why you don't like what you don't like, it can't just be troll level "this suxxors" posts the second thing it does seem to have to do with the hype level. There were plenty of well thought out posts about how terrible SWTOR's design flaws were that were posted on this website to combat the "obviously paid and later deleted" accounts that were trying to increase the hype level of that title on this and many sites so that people would have a better picture of just exactly what was happening with that unfinished game, but the mods here just kept the bans and warnings flowing like the dark side of the force. It was amazing how many good posts about SWTOR were suddenly poof gone the next day after they were posted. |

Originally posted by BadSpock they DO NOT allow you to post neagtives on a game even using constructive criticism . Ive been banned many times for that and their only excuse was postig excess negative comments about a game... It happens the most on guild wars 2 and ive NEVER even been that critical by trashing the game and have always backed up my posts with reasons for why i do not like it compared to other games or personal opinion. I try not to be rude in my posts but have had bans for personal attacks when I didnt even attack anyone or just defended myself as well. |

You squished many a fan of GW2, and even got your name in a brand new thread title, as I recall. That is an honor right there. But those threads you made were powerful, and take time to make, as you did. They were a combination of objectivity and subjectivity, but made sense. Want a nice understanding of life? Originally posted by RefMinor Not stupid - one actually has to think to be constructive. BadSpock is spot on with his assessment. One really has to sit down and think about a respose or reply. Since this is the instant gratification society, one just pushes the bottun and doesn't care. Knee jerk reaction time. |

Originally posted by essaidi I find that a little difficult to swallow, considering some of the outrageous things I have read or posted in the past. While they certainly crack down on vulgarities and general flame posts that offer no constructive criticism, for the most part, you can say what you think around here.
I would go so far as to say that this site has become a bastion for some people, who otherwise have to put up with being silenced or banned for speaking out on official forums (WWII online, Mortal Online just to name a few). I have personally flamed many games in my time here, but I usually lace it with enough constructive aspects so as to not get edited or get a ban. I only have 1 - 24 hour ban in my lifetime due to a vulgarity laced rant which had nothing constructive to it what-so-ever.
So that being said, I would say put a little more effort into the posts themselves and make it look like your trying to point out what you think is wrong, instead of posting some outlandish troll post that will get locked and earn you a time-out ;)

I thought these kind of topics were not allowed, but I guess they are? In any case, the forum moderation here baffles me completely.
I've been warned and banned for things that aren't considered violations anywhere else in the universe. I've had mods that couldn't logically tell me why I was warned, but still upheld the warnings. I have had age-old non-sensical warnings from eons prior come back and result in temp bans long after being forgotten. Best I can figure is that it is completely random, because there is nothing about the moderation here that strikes me as consistent or fair.

I just have to say if people really can't express negative opinions here, without getting banned. This place would be a ghost town. Not to mention 70% of the posts in every sub-section would be gone.

I have been pretty critical of many games on here, and I have recieved only a small few warnings, and I generally earned them. of course, when i am beng negative about a game, my posts tend to run on for quite some time, so I think most people just get bored of reading it and move on, not even bothering to report. As for me, the only posts I report are the obvious 3dparty advertisers that make posts that are supposed to look legit but are obvious attempts to either be a phishing attack, or just plain advertise a game outside of MMORPG's money making ads. I also report people who are doing obvious personal attacks against another. other then that, I find there is no reason to report. If someone wants to have a negative comment, and not back it up, I can be the bigger person and just ignore it. If anything, reporting it just makes them realize they got to you, and for most trolls, they don't care or even want you to think as they do, they are just trying to get in your head. I also realize that many times, peoples opinions will not be the same as mine. Even if they are not very good at explaining their reasoning, as long as they don't resort to instults or personal attacks against me, then they can have their opinion, express it however they want, and be safe from me going down the childish route and just reporting them. I have little faith in the moderation system on this website. I think it is mostly just an automated system handing out warnings willy nilly. I am not going to add to what I think is a flawed, imperfect system by exploiting this fact to send warnings to players express their views in a non-unsulting way., regardless of what those views are.

Originally posted by cronius77 Their policy is pretty much say your peace and move on. Fair or not that's the policy. If you're consistently hanging around a forum for a game you don't like, bringing up your reasons for not liking it in every thread, they will eventually warn or temp ban you. I've never quite undertsood why people do that anyway. For every minute you are angry , you lose 60 seconds of happiness."-Emerson If you can't argue the point don't say anything at all. |

The best part of this site is that someone can reply with a blatant troll WITH a direct attack and his post will sit there, but if you reply that he is a troll...the ban hammer hits you, your post is deleted...while the troll and attack sits there.
