Greeat Job, Mr. Crackfinder! Been playing EQ off and on for years, was fun to finally see the last expac's zones, as I still have yet to committ to leveling 1 toon to max, lol. Was really great to listen to phanTHOM and Julie talk about the game, you can definitely get the feel of why EQ has done so well over the years and why it will continue to do so. Lots of good stories told in this piece, a good watch. |

This MMO still hold my fondest memories, except for hell levels, those were the only levels I really seemed to notice. Retired from the game at the launch of Luclin and was there from about 3 months after launch, something about Luclin turned me off to the game. My pally had 58 real life days played....and several alts........I was very addicted.
I have been conisdering giving all the new content a whirl, this just nudged me a little more. |

EQ1 was a good game but funny thing about it, even with 19 expansions it didnt really have more content than Asherons Call that only had 1 expansion....and a FREE monthly update every single month, some of them were the size of an expansion, the smaller ones just kept adding up to expansion sizes every few months.

Originally posted by GoodAfternoon Rift is two years old. What EQ released over its first two years absolutely dwarfs what Rift released. Its not even close. Kunark + Velious. In fact, Kunark and Velious not only added more content than Storm legion + patches, you can throw vanilla rift in there and they still beat it.
Lets give Rift some more time, especially now that their staff has been gutted, and see how they do.

Originally posted by strangiato2112 lol notice the bashing stopped anyways after SWTOR released ? I think people were just begging for that game to either come back or seen just how much better SOE did SWG. I hated the NGE myself but putting those two games head to head SWG won hands down on just about everything. |

EVERQUEST ! < the greatest game ever made > period . I have played almost every game ever created. When i first played it I said " woah, this is what i've always dreamed a game could be." Than I thought these mmo's are only going to build on this and get better. WRONG. they have only gotten worse. I am back playing on EQ MAC! go to rerolled.org to find how to play it on pc. Or go to P1999. for that classic eq experience.
SOE did ruin Everquest with luclin and pop. after that it really got changed for the worst with each xpac.
anyone that played eq 1999-2001 knows the best game.! Wow vanilla isn't even 2nd in my book . Eqoa before froniters is 2nd best mmo of all time. |

Originally posted by bopice12 I 100% disagree, i think EQ was at its best with the release of LDoN, which really allowed the group mechanics in EQ to shine without just being a static camp. Not to mention the classes by that time were MUCH better, and the AAs were added in making character progression not something that stopped at cap.
EQ has always been good (although GoD was bad for the casual crowd, OoW more than made up for it). People may have their favorite eras, but the game has always had its great group mechanics, and thats what has always set it apart from any other MMORPG ever released. No one has come remotely close to EQ's group mechanics.

Originally posted by jtcgs Ahhh AC is great, but I think you are exxagerating hehe. Also depends on what one define as content, but I would put Eq way above any mmorpg released regarding content as I define it - world, story, lore, gameplay, features, character development, exploration, classes, spells, raiding, grouping, adventuring, questing, and everything summed up. It is not a coincidence some eq players have 1000 days /played. |

I don't know why you all like pre luclin, I loved the vah shir beastlords and I loved the AA... it changed the game immensely to have AA and not be maxed out, but I'm just one of those people that hates to ever be capped on experience... I love earning xp for every kill, and I never want that to be maxed lol. Now, Pre-PoP makes more sense as it destroyed traveling with druid/wizard teleports even worse than the Nexus Spire did in in Shadows of Luclin, but Plane of Time and Planes of Power were the best raids I had ever been on, and the music alone in Plane of Time was epic and made you feel like a super hero... Progressing through the Planes and doing the key access for Plane of Time and killing through the entire zone was the most fun I have ever had raiding, however, I can see how people didn't like it lore wise even though the time line is reversed and restored anyway... Always thought diety needed to play a bigger role, like the original cultural armor... all those spells to imbue different types of gems and all... Planes for peaceful tradeskilling and quest npcs for tradeskills and your dietys... making it up to Solosek Ro for killing him and his father Fenin, oops... sorry about that - please don't take away my magic , I'm a loyal followerer , honest... Lolz ) |

I'm glad I quit several expansions ago......EQ was fun in its time but it cost way too much money for what you got out of it......I'd hate to figure what someone who has played since day 1 has paid for this game...Factor in that some of them paid for multiple accounts and ouch.....Then when you quit your left with nothing for your money.

Originally posted by Theocritus You go watch a movie after its over what are you left with for your money ? Exactly. EQ was 8$ a month if you paid for 2 years now its 9.99$ a month if you pay for a year. Name a cheaper MMO let alone one with the size and content of EQ. They release an expansion every year for 40$ but you get every previous expansion with it. WOW still charges you for every expansion. |
