Originally posted by iamthekiller Well its obvious that the game was not gonna kill WoW and no one in their right mind said otherwise. If you listed to anyone who said as much then that is your own silly fault. But the obvious truth is it did take a great number of subscriptions from WoW seeing as it outsold WoW for the first 2-3 months and Pandaland is considered the poorest selling xpac to date. The only conclusion is GW2 did take away alot of sales. |

I've recently gone back and the game is in a much better place - it's simply more fun than it was before. I've just started exploring Orr which is fun - and apparently I'm a genius because Orr was really awful before? sPvP is a lot of fun. WvW still needs some major work IMO, but hopefully the big March update helps. I really like the Living Story and can't wait to play the next chapters. The game REALLY needs an in-game top-notch cross-realm LFG tool for dungeons/fractals. Right now everyone seems to be using a 3rd party website, which is a huge turn off for me. The need is obviously there to do the same in game Anet. I really hope they add in a WoW-like LFD tool when the next phase of dungeon fixes/tweaks comes out. Beyond that, I'm still hopeful for more weapons and maybe weapon skills per weapon in the first expansion to make it a but more mix and match like GW1 was. As it stands now, I don't really like the way the secondaries / elite skills work and I don't like the hard-set weapon skills. Now that they've got guesting enabled, I also think they should do what WoW did and make the leveling zones cross realm to host a much healthier population across all zones. MMO History: |

Originally posted by iamthekiller Actually, you attacked the game with really poor arguments that do not constitute logic or well formed thought; which is what I meant by you claiming your opinions as fact. Saying "its successful for a mediocre game" is one of those poor arguments where you do as such. So yeah, I will defend the game from baseless arguments as simple as it being called "a mediocre success". GW2 sold faster then any other MMO to date and you cannot dispute that. MoP is a fast selling expansion, but it is not a launch MMO. WoW did not have this high of a sell through rate at this point in the game's life span, thus making GW2 outsell it. It is pretty undisputable logic. GW2 at 5 months = 3 million sold WoW at 5 months = not 3 million sold. GW2 clearly sold copies faster. End of that story. The end of your thread is you once again stating your opinion as fact. Claiming the game is not going to become good. I also post to make people like yourself look like blundering bafoons. |

I think it's a good game in the sense that they provided a lot of quality of life features and it felt like a new game, unlike SWTOR which felt dated at launch. But I really don't understand how people can play for 4-5 hours a day.
Leveling was OK but I felt that I got all my abilities way too soon, I didn't have enough abilities to choose from and only a couple of builds were viable. It's a good game for alts because of the different starting zones. The story is TERRIBLE, my characters were thief and necromancer yet I'm acting like a pussy trying to protect the innocent.... It was almost insultingly bad, like it was written for young children.
At endgame you get your + 'magic find' gear, farm events and run dungeons, with pugs. I saved up for the human t3 cultural in a couple of weeks, got the stats and weapons from explorable dungeons. What else is there to do?
I realize there is WvW but I found it boring, I'm sure it would be more fun as a guild but still not my cup of tea.

I'm in the same boat, I started with high hopes for GW2 but always knew I would be back playing WoW when the expansion came out. WoW can definitely get old but I just through some F2P games in there and go back to WoW when I need a fix. Works out pretty good if you ask me. As far as going back to GW2 I'm fairly sure that will never happen. If they can't pull me back before a expansion I won't ever get back into that game. |

This is puzzling. How do you "beat" an MMO, especially one that's constantly changing? |

GW2's combat is better then most other combats. I have a long history of MMO's, from 7 years of EQ, to 3 years of DAoC, and 5 years of WoW ... with numerous other MMO's tossed in. GW2 does a lot of things right, and very little wrong. Few improvement they could make would be things like Group Finder, WvW improvements( on slate), instanced housing, Fishing, .... basically mostly fluff items to improve quality of life. As long as they keep evolving the story and making bugs fixes the game will flourish. |

Originally posted by Volkon I cannot express this enough guys. This is by far the most useful tool you can use for finding a group. Honestly, having used it alot to find groups I can say that a group finding system would be a waste of development time at this point. They should just hire the guy who made this site. Gw2lfg.com You can make groups like instantly and I am not even kidding. You post what you are looking for and can specify dungeon, ect. |

Well you know my thoughts. It met the hype for me; I was excited about a game for the first time in a decade and it didn't disappoint. Sure there were a few things I'd like to be changed like the lack of account-bound dyes, but otherwise, I love the combat, the collecting, the gameplay and the community (in-game anyway, the official forums are clogged with smug A-holes from what I've read.. I don't post there). Even the story and voice overs grow on you after a while (except the Norn female, who still sounds like she has way too much testosterone for her own good). So yeah... and I'd be playing right now if yet another gaming computer hadn't bit the dust recently. I am not having very much luck with pc's lately. Managed to get two characters to 80 though lol no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by BadSpock This is a good post. The points in orange especially stand out to me. The last point though I think is a great suggestion and I would take it one step further. They need to make pve zones one area with layers like STO. The layers could be named after your server and could be your default, but it should be easy to group up and join any layer together with your team mates. More configurable weapon skills would be nice as well. That third party site thing I'm sure works well for lots of people, but I hate that sort of thing. I don't want to jump through hoops and go through a third party just to play my game. I would rather just not run dungeons. |

Originally posted by Volkon I'd love to set up a dungeon play date sometime! I'm level 80 and I've done the Ghosts of Ascalon story mode once and maybe like two of the explorables? That's it. I really do need to be proactive and find guildies interesting in tagging along. Kind of want to finish the personal story first though... but I barely have enough time in the day to do the daily achieves for PvE and PvP and also have time to do a dungeon or personal story chapter.
