Currenlty Playing: AO (might try WoW again)... where is the new "hot" sci-fi game? |
Hello, I'm new to the mmo world of game play and am currently playing Anarchy Online (with all expansions - 215 adv Rimor server). I believe I've done a great job lvling my toon for a first timer, but I would like to know some other good/great mmo's. If they are free trail or not I still would like to know about them. Please list some mmo's and give your opinion about, so that I can look them up later. You can also post the links if you don't mind. Thanks!! |

There r a couple really high ranking free mmos out the like silkroad maplestory and flyff are just a few. It really depends wat u r looking for. If you are looking for more hardcore endless grind you might like maplestory. if you want more of an interactive style you should take up knight. Silkroad is one of my all time favorites though beacuse it has such an interactive system with theifs hunters and traders.Hero is a lot like silk but like a downgrade of it. if you want an online space game i would recommend space cowboy. And if you like grahics i would think guild wars would be your thing. if you like cute little anime graphics and good quest with actually 3D flying you might like flyff. It all depends on what type of gamer you are.( but silkroad is the best for me |

What is Flyff? I'm trying to find it, so that I can read about it. Maybe I'm over looking it, so if you don't mind please list the full name. Thanks!!

I have to agree with the choices above. They are the same ones I would have listed. Flyff and SpaceCowboy are especially fun if you are looking for a free MMO. As for pay MMOs, I am currently playing WoW until Vanguard and Warhammer Online is released. |

The doctors say his chances are 50/50...but there's only a 10% chance of that. |

In any event, since this is in the role playing discussion forum, maybe instead of just listing every MMO ever we'd be better off listing ones with role playing or somesuch? Dunno if its in the right section though. El Psy Congroo |

OP it sounds like you did a really good job in AO.....IT isnt the easiest of MMOs for a first one and you apparently did really well..... I also enjoyed AO quite a bit and here are some toehrs I enjoyed in no particular order: Everquest-now f2p and still a pretty fun game Fallen Earth-Another MMO you can play for free....was much better than I originally thought it would be Ryzom-A gathering/crafting heavy MMO also can be tried for free up to skill level 125 Vanguard is good also if your PC can run it....It has tech issues but if you can run it without issue its a good game
If you go with some of the games wehre you ahve to pay do your research first....Its pretty silly in this industry to blindly pay for MMOs....There are tons that are free to play or at least free to try...Alot of people will try to talk you into the MMO flavor of the month (GW2, TSW are the msot recent) but if you wait they will come down in price or eventually be free (particularly TSW).....

I think answering the OP at this point is kind of pointless condsidering he hasn't been online in well over five years.

Originally posted by courtdog Theres really only a few worth playing currently ,in my opinion of course. Heres my list in order 1) GW2 - Guild Wars 2: Best PvE experience around. Good combat with good "quest" delivery. Lot of polish and quality even down to the idle animations. Buy to play. Completely optional cash shop. 2) Rift - Unique class system with decent PvP. Good bit of content but most I know play for PvP and PvP only. It's not the best PvP but the unique class system makes for some fun and interesting PvP. Pay to play. 3) TSW - Unique game that strays away from the high fantasy. Lots of puzzles. Not the most polish or quality but does have a unique setting based on Lovecrafts world and it has good story. Content is a bit lacking. Buy to play. Optional Cash shop. 4) EvE - Well done game with a good developer. Harsh world and many find the gameplay borring (Including me) but it is a well done game. With the lack of decent scifi MMO's this is pretty much the only option for many. Pay to play but can buy game time with in game currency, though it is expensive to do so. 5) WoW - Lots of polish, decent amount of quality, and a great deal of content. Not my cup of tea but a lot of people like it. Pay to play. 6) PS2 - Good fast action MMOFPS. Hop in, kill, and hop out at will. Futuristic military game. It's something different but not really a main MMO. Free to play, completely optional fluff cash shop. 7) Ultima Online (It's an older game but nothing offers what it does so it still gets played) - To this day there is no MMO that offers all or even half of what UO offers. If you can get past the dated graphics and combat its by far one of the most robust MMOs on the market. 15+ years and one of the few remaining pay to plays lol. 8) DCUO - If you like Super Heroes this is the best on the market right now. Not a great game, but not a bad game. Free to play. Cash shop is a little demanding.
Thats my list of MMO's worth playing currently. Others may feel differently but this is just my opinion.
Edited: Wow, didn't notice this was a necro and what a necro it is lol. |

Achaea is an older MUD / MMO. Its been around since '96 but has good population, deep roleplay / mechanics and good events.

Sadly there isn't really any good games now. All the good games are in development. Currently waiting for World of Darkness ( will be awesome to RP with) and Neverwinter.
