Originally posted by Tayah First off they can only tear down your house AFTER a sucessful siege of a Castle it is placed near on the Northern continent. And there will be plenty of warning of an incoming siege. Defend your castle and your home will be safe. On the Southern continents no one, NO ONE, can tear down a house. Or why would they be standing waiting on a scarecrow to despawn and not tearing it down? Set permissions, and close your door when you leave and all is good. |

What about sea? Can You claim property as ashore in protected areas? Farming/production/industry could be realized at sea too.
1) Let there be a restriction in numbers of properties per player 2) Dont make it too easy to achieve property, but still possible to reach if You work hard for it.
Make it possible to hire mercenaries or to build mercenary troops to protect propreties in unprotected areas to make possible attackers think twice before attacing your properties. Scale mercenary forces according to attacking force and let hire-fee be equal either youre a single player or a guild.

Annnnnnnnd once again
We have western players crying because they actually have to DO SOMETHING to acquire an ingame item/house......
Scroll up and read how these players don't want to put any effort into getting something, its comical. They want 'welfare houses' now lol.. Im actually embarrassed to be a western player at the moment.
This is a great thing XL, don't change a thing. Many of us WANT to work to acquire something and NOT HAVE IT HANDED TO US BECAUSE WE'RE LAZY.
Good job Jake! All Will Be Well..... |

Sounds rather unfun to have to rush through the game to claim land, possibly missing on much of the experience. I would understand if you had to PvP your way to claim your land (as in, the last one standing in the patch of land gets it), but having to wait till people get bored or push them off while afk? Sounds like a letdown.
My opinion is my own. I respect all other opinions and views equally, but keep in mind that my opinion will always be the best for me. That's why it's my opinion. |

Meh, its not for everyone. But then what is? The people who don't like it have a ton of other choices for MMOs to go play. This is one of the few MMOs that sounds remotely interesting to those of us burned by everything coming out of western developers.

Originally posted by ignore_me Wait a minute! I was told we would have free houses and XL would pay for them, now your saying its not free homes for everyone?? Next your going to say if i dont pay the 20k a year for the home youll penalize me or put me in jail. I guess we should have read the bill before we passed it aye? All i wanted was for XL to give me everything and keep me 100% safe in a Liberty free enviroment! No risk but no reward. OOPS. N/M! That said, at launch im not going to rush through the game to get a house. Im going to enjoy the game and if there are no areas left, ohh well. No ones fault but mine. Originally posted by theoneandonly I think you came to ArchAge expecting another Fun game where you can play for a couple hours a week or month and still be at the same place as everyone else. ArchAge is a game for those who takes MMO as an second Life. Those players that buys the game 1 week after everyone else will be behind , those that play less than 8 hours a day is behind those that plays 9 hours a day. And you will never get those hours back, once you are behind, unless you have an bench session and other players goes to sleep, you will always be behind. Thats is what ArchAge is, an epic Hardcore second Life. And I think thats why there are so many people excited about it, its been a long long while since we had a game where someone could play as their second life. BTW second Job doesn't even describe this game, its Second Life. Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it. |

Speaking of land. Has anyone gotten their hands on the latest detailed map with all the new zones? I think of the one used in the minimap, not the handdrawn one.
This would be an old one with many zones missing http://upload.booncontrol.com/images/archeagema.jpg in here the new ones but its just the drawn map http://archeagewiki.com/images/thumb/5/58/World_map.jpg/750px-World_map.jpg 'Seamless world' - A world lacking visible or phys. seams, forming forced breaking points during transition and movement;

Originally posted by AticusWelles A ton of other choices? I think not, I am sitting here reading the forums and searching for one game to play. Two gaming rigs being used for text processing because there is no mmoRPG out there at the moment. Or at least none I care to play. As to this whole land grab thing, the limit placed on safe housing is a design element to encourage open world PvP, theft and ganking. This seems to be the underlying agenda of the sandbox elements of this game. Not a true sandbox, more of a kitty litter tray in a Paint Ball theme park. |

Originally posted by sofus12345 Unfortunately from what was posted by the OP, that isn't really true. He stated that because he didn't rush, while everyone else did, he was only able to get 1 house, and he isn't having as much fun as those that has 3 houses, and land for farming and animals. So if I started ArchAge 1 week behind you, you are level 30, i am level 8, by the time I get to level 30 have my Gold ready for houses, there won't be any more land in the safe areas. How is that suitable for all kind of gamers and their available times. BTW I am totallly for this game, I love that those that actually knows the in and out of this MMO beforehand actually have some advantage. And the rest of the players will have to gather up and go to the FFA lands for their houses. That is what MMO should be, dangerous, fun, and suicidal when all your hardwork goes up in flames. Those were the times when great MMO guilds existed, and people actually have Guild Pride, instead of just the officers having Guild Pride. I was just pointing out that we shouldn't sugar coat ArchAge from what it is, those with more time and bigger guilds will succeed better than those without, and that is how it should be. MMO isn't the playground for " No children left behind" Its Leave behind the weak so they get eaten giving you time to level. Life is a Maze, so make sure you bring your GPS incase you get lost in it. |

Why would i want to play a game that rewards slackers and lawless gangs who do work...just murder burn and take.Who wants to live where anarchy and the strongest guilds rule ?
me..... I want to fight when I want to fight I want to not fight when i don't want to fight I want to craft and know that my many hours of work remain in my possesion and not a gang of thugs who too it off my body or chests in my house that they just burned down. |

There is many misinformations in this thread. The most important: houses cant be choped down, with exception of houses in a 250 meters radius from the central point of territorys in the northern continent. A house can be lost only if the owner dont pay the taxes. In the northern continent, the taxes will be settled by guild leaders that owns the territory.

Houses and a tiny area around them will be like safezones. Nothing can be stolen there. The players can use a scarecrown to claim more lands around the house, but these extra lands will be open to stealing (with punitions to the theft in karma points).
