The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day. |

I dislike phasing as much as the next dude, but I like that they're spreading indepent quest hubs around like in MoP so you don't have to follow the same questing path as everyone else. In WoW I especially disliked meeting up with a friend and us being unable to locate each other because we were in separate phases of the zone. Along with people popping in and out of existence. It's very immersion-breaking. - vigilo confido - |

I don't understand why devs still use this method of gameplay really. We've seen how successful the other methods of nonlinear automatic and remote question is when games are released with those methods. Even if people don't like other aspects of the games they like the ability to not have to run pickup tons of quests, do them all in sequence in a zone, then run back turn them all in rince and repeat. Haven't they learned by now that this is boring? And then there's the question of magic in the world, if there's truly magic then why do you have to run back to talk to someone to turnin a non material gathering quest? Where's the remote communication especially when you are a magic user yourself? It's like playing a scifi game and not having a remote communication device to turn in missions (cough SWTOR cough). smh weird.
It does look like they are taking some key mechanics from games to keep them from being bothersome like one giant shard, some public questing requiring no grouping everyone can participate in those, open world pvp zones. Hopefully it will be a mixture because what usually gives the most options turns out to be the best games. |

TBH ive never got what the problem with phasing is, as long as they actually mean phasing like wow and not swtor (when phasing actually just meant little instances) i really dont have an issue with it at all, in fact I like that my actions can have an affect on the open world

there isn't alot of phasing in mop. Now cata was a diffrent story. There was phasing everywhere in cata but mop there isnt alot. There is one section end of valley of four winds and my farm is phased but for the most part mop isnt phased much at all.

Originally posted by Maelwydd Yes but the other side of the coin breaks my immersion. I hate when I kill a named mob, important king of the village, and then 20 seconds after the guy respawns! So it makes sense when things are there for you because you didnt do them, but arent for me because I've done them. The obvious answer to that dialog is: "go do the freakin quest! >.<" lol

If ESO turns out to be another WoW clone then it wil fail like most other themeparks doing this. this might be the straw that breaks the camels back in the industry though. Too bad they have to smear a good ip in the process

Sorry Phasing irritates you so, but I prefer it over the alternatives. So YEY. Holy Trinity who art in our MMORPGs! Blessed be thy speccs, as in WOW so in all MMOs! Our daily loot grant us, and forgive us our noobness, as we forgive the noobs! And do not lead us to disconnects, But deliver us from mediocrity, For thine is the specialization and the teamwork and the endgame, Until cancellation, Amen! |

Honestly, the questing doesn't mean much to me. 95% of what I care about is how the endgame RvR is. I'd be willing to suffer through dreadful PvE if it means awesome PvP at the end of the tunnel.

Originally posted by Betaguy Right, so the thread is about how questing is like WoW...but when someone says no kidding, the person doesnt understand it, he is a hater. Ok, I AM a hater. I hate the fact that an IP that is open world, is being made non-open and instead of being made old-school MMO, they are using tired MMO genre stagnant ideas that most people are sick of yet still for some reason get glassy eyed fanboish defensive about...until a few months after release when they turn rabid complainer about how the game is just like every other MMO.
