Originally posted by archeageking I am not so much concerned with the fact that people will be fighting for the land, I expected it. What disappoints me is that I cannot build anywhere I want (at least if I understand it correctly). I was looking forward to exploring and finding some cool place to build a house on, not at some predetermined spot. Playing: Nothing atm My game concept thread: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/369707 (any feedback appreciated) |

Originally posted by botrytis Don't worry, the game is pretty fun for players that don't take it too seriously. Even if you don't have house or any land property, you can still build ships and travel and do merchant trades, find shipwrecks under the sea to get some treasures, go hunt for treasure maps(if lucky you get really nice items), or find relics on northern continent for very nice amount of gold.
There are plenty of things to do, but housing is pretty big if you want to play seriously. The housing zone isn't small. In fact it's pretty large but there are that many people with many land properties (there's no limit, you just have to pay more tax if own more) so things like this happen. Not many people buy castle or 2 floor houses because of the tax and the space needed to build it. But it does look really cool. I've seen one guy build a castle all on his own which was amazing (in unprotected area). |

Some links with screenshots of building houses. Anywhere on the map with house sign is where you can build your house and farm. There are many in every region. You can build on mountains, land, islands, etc...

Additionally, there is LOTS of housing spaces available on the North continent. Once your Expeditionary Force (read Guild) claims land there, or you can squat on someone elses claim area and pay their taxes. Of course if some sieger wants to, they can destroy your house after breaking a claim. You will get your house blueprint back in the mail, but contents? ... not so much... |

Why isn't there some kind of bidding or voting after time expires instead of waiting there or fighting?

there is still a lot free land for build, ppl only need look around a bit, nearly the completet north is still free + the tax will be higher as more buildings you have. most of ppl already destroy there houses becuse of high tax every week. tthis months come fthe first expansion with a few more land and isle building zones.

Sounds a lot like UO and the "might makes right" philosophy of the game designers. If thats in the game when it hits North American shores...I certainly want no part of it.Who wants someone taking all your hard earned items ?

Originally posted by coretex666 In the southern continents, there are specific housing spots, but in the northern (the lawless or "savage" continent) the players will can build in almost every square of the ground.

Originally posted by Shadanwolf Nobody wants, and the mmo will provide tools to everyone with a minimal of intelligence avoid or overcome that, or even be the one that takes stuff from others. I think that even the lax players will have a place in this game. There will be much thing unrelated to fight to be done.

Originally posted by Shadanwolf If only people could kill you and take all yor items you had on you.. that would be awesome.. sadly this game wont have that.. In the north you will be able to build all voer the place.. but its lawless so people will be able to siege your house or whatever not 100% sure how it works.. so yes you need to defend it :) My 3D models |

Originally posted by archeageking And that is not good. It not just a land rush. It is a content rush! I have to rushed though the content get the land and that is not a good thing. I should be able to play that content on my own pace and still have as much changes and opertunities as player who simply have more time on there hands. I am not sure if this is really going to be a problem. If you have a nice area together with you clan where you all have you houses even in unsave area. Is it then still very unsave? |

This was a concern of mine when it comes to this game. I want to play the game for the housing, crafting, pvp, and farming. Doesn't sound good to me. I like having housing that I can keep. What good is it if someone can just wait til I log off then go seige my house and take the land.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |

Jake Song has now said that they will be adding more housing areas to the Southern continents. So that should alleviate some of the crowding.
Also, don't forget players can form a family and share a house so not everyone needs their own individual house, especially if you are just using if for storage and crafting tools. If you want to decorate and cover every flat surface with Boss kill trophies, then yes, you'll need your own home. |

It will work out. You may have to fight hard for a piece of land or ypu might be able tobuyit or it will be gifted to you. If you want a house, youll get one. Its very close to real life it seems. Limited land at higest price, impacted by outside variables. As long as no one can steal my land all else is fair.
