 Actually this will be more like the Rapid Assault vs WWII Online drama.

Tabula Rasa is at least standalone and is pretty original concept. It main failings was the company politics that was going on in the background, not so much with the game itself.

Why would they not have released it for console and PC?  seems a little silly to release a game, that is part of their MMO, but not release it for PC..

Firstly, Sony paid them cash towards the development costs, hence PS3 exclusive. Also how long do you think it would take the EvE playerbase to write the hacks and cheats for a PC version.

Which will really defy the whole point of Dust 514 integration into the mainstream EVE.

 The game runs of the EVE Tranquility server, so I have no clue what you are on about...

4: To make a game thats a platform exclusive is one thing, but to make it completely opposite the main fanbase of EVE, is just plain suicide for a offspring mmo.

Same as 1, and still, its how they want it.

This will be yet another Tabula Rasa... Much overhyped. Too quick too short too far from the fanbase and deemed to fail from day one.

I have said it on these forums before, Lets meet back here in a year an evaluate. I potentially think they have a hit, but as this junkture its too hard to call yet.

Sorry, but DUST 514 isn't even worth the time investment, even if you already own a PS3. Not for me at least.

You don't suppose that Sony may buy the rights to there own server to play both Dust as well as EvE? NAHH unless it went PVE only. The EvE part.

 I've been playing DUST and I've changed my mind! I enjoy it.

I'm glad they have a skill point cap because otherwise this game could prove really addictive - and that's not a good thing.

 This is an interesting philosphical discussion!

I would say the word 'investment' isn't relevant to the topic. 'Investment' implies financial long-term gain - and there isn't any.

It's like saying that looking at a beautiful painting is an investment.

I would say playing DUST/Eve online for the long-term was worth it because these games are deep as well as fun, and you may socialise (if you so wish).

They also develop as time progresses - they are 'cutting edge'.

The game is bad, the shooting is awkward, the graphics are kinda washed. Not fun enough to play actually. 

If you own a ps3 and want a good shooter there are better options. I can't see why anyone would play Dust instead of Battlefield 3 or Killzone 3, unless you are a EVE player who will earn something through it. 

I love these "This game will fail" threads. Most entertaining!

I prefer DUST to BF3.

I had a blast with BF2, but the eventual plans for DUST sound better.

I would be interested to know what FPSs / MMORPGs you find more fun than DUST - I feel we need a comparison here.

while those shooters are good they are ultimately very shallow. and seeing as with Battlefield especially they are planning to release a new one every year, at $60 a shot for basically the same game some people would say that Dust has both better time value and better bang for their buck. I know that's my opinion. Especially with CCP's history of free updates.
