Maybe people are saying it's a blend because it has themepark elements added in? If you put space dungeons in EVE would it be a themepark? DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

Originally posted by tyfon Almost every game has sandbox elements, but I agree with you as there is no official sandbox mmorpg definition. Bottom line is always fun. |

Sorry to say the game is Sandbox. However it has quests at the beginning to get you all your abilities and teach you how things work in the game. By the third day i no longer have quests to do, that being said when i log in i have a ton of things i want to get done for the day.
Because i can. |

Why do folks seem to think there has to be a set rule for sandboxes? And what's this sandpark nonsense? When sandboxes were "all the rage" we all clammored for more "content," and when we got it people began to say, "That's not really a sandbox. It's more a sandpark!"
Ok, ok getting on a tangent there. I think a lot of people don't truely like sandboxes in the first place. Unless you're an Eve player or a player of some of the lesser known titles, there's not a lot out there that isn't considered "Old."
Saga of Ryzom SWG Eve Salem Second Life
Those are a few examples of sandboxes. All are / were very different in approach and design. Typically there is no hand-holding in sandboxes. No colored paths and arrown pointing you to the next goal. The key to a good sandbox is community interdependence. There's a reason SWG only allowed one character per server for example. The end-user experience in a sandbox is totally dependent on his or her interactions with their peers. In other words, the entire point of it being "sandbox" in the first place is that the content, economy, and experience is player made and driven.

Greatest sandbox ever!.. Pick one school..stay with it forever...no option to change. Impressive freedom...cough.. UUU..and quest....must do quest...what other choice...quest forever. And after 10 posts of "fanboys" keeping their little dream theme...err...sandpack...box! box!. You know what? DO another 10 posts. Because it's just a sandbox with quests right? Yeaaa....themebox.... Damn...can't attack this guy...because the game won't let me..why...because..just because. I don't want to join any school!! ANY! Be free...murder anyone...but I can't, because this is a sandbox....ow...wait....what? /sarcasm OFF This game is a sandbox as much as I am the King of China. If schools were removed, quest done in an "optional way of playing"(like EVE)...then it could have been a sandbox....hmm...maybe. And come on, that NPC can definetly fetch that bread from the cook...really.... I bet I can play LOTRO without touching any quest at all...does that make it a sandbox?... Good game though...but not a sandbox, you are pretty much forced into a direction.
