Originally posted by LadyEuphei I am sorry to hear that you are having a rough time, personally for me, I logged in after they tweeted that the queues were gone and they had pre-warned me of some stablity issues that were remaining. In the 2 hours I played, enought to complete act 2 I got dc'ed three times. Once during the white beast and as sods law would have twice in the pyramid. People are destructive, but I think this is a good thing to be honest for GGG because it helps gear them up against future issues such as this and I got to be honest, my hats off to them for they have been transparent about it from the get-go and because of their updates I have suffered very 'minor' issues. But, I honestly don't know why these people like to DDOS things. I can kinda understand it when they are looking to put an ill-placed statement in play, such as when they attacked VISA which the whole wikileaks thing. I can understand their mentality, even though I don't agree with it. But PoE is a game which is free to play with a passion for its game and community. So, I am trying to find out why they would do it against GGG. What do they have against the company and it's community. It HAS to be more than a D3 envy, because that is so stupid it would be inane to comprehend. I play on the EU server, so I am not sure what its like on the US but things are steadily improving. |

Had the company stated it is being DDoSed? because it is an easy fix to solve the problem. It may just be going down all the time because of open beta and them having more traffic than anticipated. Most releases are this way and have been for some time.

Originally posted by Woopin Yes, on their twitter feed. They were unsure to begin with but their hosts contacted with them saying it looked like an attack was going on. After a while they provided evidence through the data packets that person or persons were indeed hosting a DDOS attack. |

Originally posted by Tsumoro That is a very optimistic outlook you have their friend. I guess it is true this will help them be prepared for official launch. Atleast now they can brush it off as "oh it is open beta" even though we know behind their teeth they are saying "It is a bunch of a-hats fing everything up" |

Originally posted by LadyEuphei I think you and me share the same mind, I don't know but I've found a lot of gamers lack empathy for others, or maybe its just people in our generation, but I completly agree with you. If people put themselfs in each others shoes more often i think a lot of the problems we have in the world today would be more understood by both sides. Gamers in general are disconnected with the real world, not all of them mind you, but in my experiance I do find that a lot of them are "socially retarded" if that makes any sense? |

I was disapointed in the PoE community as well in beta...I've played alot of f2p games and have seen some terrible communities but this one was really bad......I dont know if its just the Diablo type of gameplay that makes players feel like they can be jerks or some other factor but this game really lent itself to alot of idiots.

Um, if you're getting DDOS'd then it's completely your fault. People need your external IP address to DDOS you. And people CANNOT get your IP address from the twitch.tv website or chat. You probably invited someone from your stream chat into Skype and they resolved your IP address from there... If you're going to stream you need to protect yourself. Don't use Skype, ever, and make sure you don't do anything else that could expose your IP address. Don't download anything posted in chat. Don't even go to all the websites that people post in chat because they can send you somewhere that logs your IP address.
To fix your current situation you will need to call your ISP and tell them you need your IP address changed. Shouldn't be a problem. |

Originally posted by LadyEuphei GGG to me, seem like a company that really care for their game and for the community it is serving. They have spent a long time shaping this game to be an enjoyable experience. Which is why I believe without a doubt that their interests is to set this matter down and get it sorted. So although its rather gash right now, the improvement to the service will be evident over time. Myself personally, I never let the guise of oben beta fool me, nor should you let it fool you. This is a 'release' and is protected by the veil of open beta. Continued supported games never go into a 'full' release purely because they consider them 'never finished'. A nice, protective bubble where the bad can be blamed on 'its open beta' status. However in defense to GGG I will say that their level of communication with it's community allowed me to be prepared for whats going on. They were quick to respond and up front honest and didnt jump to assumptions they waited until they heard from thier host before the verified it being a DDOS attack. Personally, I can't hold that against them if people want to be malicious, much like I can't hold a bank responsible for being robbed at gun point. So as long as they resolve the issues, explain to the community and repair any issues people might have had to their accounts, be this roll-backs or whatever. They will sit pretty with me. But I am with you, I am sure their public face is 'Stand back everyone, I've got this!' but behind closed doors their spitting teeth. After all, I would be annoyed too if the beach bully kept kicking down my sand castle everytime I built it up. :)

Originally posted by AvsRock21 I will try and explain this slowly for you. Please proceed to read every word with a 10 second pause between it to not over load. The game is getting DDOS'd not me. Please read and internalize before assuming to comment. I also mentioned they get it from skype. Obviously, I have already learned all the lesson you are trying to say. Thank you for your contribution I suggest you read next time before commenting |

Originally posted by Tsumoro I did actually get a chuckle out of them saying "our host says it is DDOS attacks, but we are not sure" Like to hear that they are independent and dont just blame it on what ever is easiest right away. |

This thread is so pink. A friend of mine mentioned this game to me recently; something about a deep skill/talent tree, I believe. I hope the DDoS issue is resolved and you can enjoy the game once more. This is as good a time as any to read about the game.

Originally posted by LadyEuphei I do not get why they are getting hit so bad then because most hosts can fix DDoS attacks within 2 to 24 hours depending on the hosts skill level. And I did not ask for proof just asked are you sure ;) because I have not noticed any downtime, but then again I have been busy this week. |

Originally posted by Woopin I do agree I think they may want to seek a new host or negotiate their host to pay more attention. This is a big game release and the community will only grow, they need a reliable hosting service! |
