This was a smart business move on their part. There are many incentives for companies to create jobs in the US right now, particularly in the south. The increased costs of healthcare is outweighed by the tax benefit, doubly so if these artist positions are contractors and not full-time employees.

more work on the shoulders of whoever's left(for now) so even less QA than the previous update. |

All this is, is an attempt to save themselves, until they can find a buyer. In their post TSW launch financial filing, it was clear that they lost their ass on TSW and stated that they were going to be laying off 50% of the company and not making any more MMOs. Further, they have hired two mergers and acquisition specialists to get them ready for sale. They are trying to cut spending to let their small cash reserve keep them afloat a little longer.

The art in the game was fine but the animations left alot to be desired, especially mob animations.

I'm not sure what the big news is here, MMORPG.com. Funcom already said they would be centralizing their studios into one studio. Adding all these individual stories about the move, is only over-dramatizing the matter. Something I would expect to see on CNN.

Funcom's restructuring may well lead to bankruptcy in the next year or so.

So basically, jobs that were previously outsourced to China will now be handled primarily by American artists and animators.

What happens when the Conan ip license is up? will the owners be looking for a newer game made? could Funcom be in SWG territory if they make it that far. I cannot imagine many companies interesting in Funcom no real IP's worth having this isn't Bioware or even Relic, this is a small no-name outfit with little worth buying big companies want established IP's to mine what does funcom have really?
