In SWG they separated the gorund game fomr the space game, it was really annoying imho, that said some people loved ground combat and many more loved space combat, so having two separate systems was unique in SWG (well, unique until EVE did it with DUST). It sounds like EVE are really hardcore about DUST and my guess is they will do well with it. At the end of the day a good game, or a good minigame, or a good expansion, etc, are just that: Good. And if they do it as well as they did EVE they're going to have people playing for a long, long time. |

I don't like EvE at all, but i think it's a very tough move and few studios have the balls to try something like this. Thinking about it, in fact no other studio comes to my mind. I doubt though that the Ps3/shooter-kiddies do have the slightest idea about EvE or pay too much attention to how Dust relates to EvE, but will rather play it as your everday standard shooter. I'm afraid both games are way too different to get their respective crowds to work together longterm.

Originally posted by Muke I would think revenge will play a part in retention, lets face it some EvE faction will double cross a Dust corp and earn their undying enmity, people will stick around to screw their enemies in a big universe.

If you see no good or you see no bad in a game, chances are you are bias. |

I vote no... normally I would think adding some other element to a game would be interesting/good, but to be blunt I don't think it will be helpful to eve, considering the type who typically play Eve.

DUST should have been built into Eve to form 1 game - e.g. pod pilots should be controlling mechs on the battlefield. It's better to make 1 outstanding (and newsworthy game - like WoW) than 2 OK ones that the mainstream press ignore. |

even if you thought something like that ...... it is extremely unlikely Sony would have ever given them money to make DUST, without CCP having had this track record of having a successful & growing MMO for the past X years.
also.... as many people have expressed, the fanbases between the 2 games may have very little overlap. so tying their fates together (into "one game") seems........ The End |

I don't play EvE and I would never play a FPS game on console. With that said though, it's different so I like it. If Dust was on PC I would give it a try if there was a demo/beta, since I really like PC FPS games.

CCP approached Microsoft first and asked about developing the game on the Xbox. They turned it down and that's where Sony came into play. So no, it was allways be ment to be a console-game to integrate console FPS-players into the universe of EvE. Dust514 will never ever be released for the PC, as this would UNlevel the playingfield. |

I think it needs to come to pc. Many eve players who don't have a ps3 would play it on pc even if it's jsut to help out their corp. But I'm not going to buy a PS3 for one game when I already have a 360. I'm worried that the game will loose popularity like so many other FPS recently, global agenda etc. This will have a knock on effect for Eve because without dust players, the whole mechanic in Eve will not work. |

I think its a great idea purely because of the innovation. innovation is an overused word, many publishers and devs claim that they have innovated something and its rarely true and its just marketing speak. Currently playing: EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time) Gravity Rush, (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light, |

Originally posted by Malcanis How would Dust on the PC "UNlevel" the playing field? Mouse & Keyboard isn't the problem so much as the issue of hacking is much easier on the computer. They couldn't hire enough GMs to watch the servers to prevent it from having a serious effect. While you can hack a console game it is much harder to do and generally destabilizes the game so it crashes quite often. |

The "UNleveling" happens when people start to cheat, hack and use more powerful hardware. And yes, more powerful hardware is aswell an unbalancing factor in competitive FPS-games. The PS3 is allmost resiliant to all of the above, and when you still find a way to hack or cheat and get discovered, your hardware-ID gets banned and you need to buy another PS3. On the PC however you simply can create a new account. |

It will come to the PC some time before 2015. They wanted to release it on the PS3 first to build a new community and attract a new audience - If you release it for the PC you have a very heavy EVE stigma surrounding it which would likely cause only EVE players to sign up for it. After a while the PS3 players will have "their" game and the addition of PC players will, in the long term, end up more favorable. Playing: EVE |

I am keeping an open mind. But I am concerned that it will bring lots of obnoxious FPS kiddies into what is predominantly a mature, adult oriented MMO.
