As good as GW2 can be, paying $60 for an expansion no matter how much content they were to put in is silly.  It would almost have to be a standalone game for it to be worth that much.

Well gw1 exapnsions were stand alone, so hopefully future expansion packs will be like that.

I think it would need to introduce some substantial changes to the game mechanics before I would, particularly since I couldn't even get to 80 in the original before hitting the wall.

Odd, I made it to 80 on my 1st toon b4 hitting even 20% world completion.

after that I went exploring to finish the remaining 80% of the world it was an amazing adventure.

That said, right now I'm finding it a bit hard to log in, legendary weapon chasing is not my idea of endgame, it's just an enormous grind fest, and while the whole game is suppose to be endgame, I'm feeling the lack of a proper endgame exclusive to max level characters only.

After you have a couple of max level toons and you have most of the exotic armors and weapons you need, unless you want legendary weapons there's little reason to login at all.

It's a shame really the game is awesome and gorgeous it only needs more incentives and proper rewards to keep people playing.

This coming from someone that loves the game and thought it would be awesome, you know the whole idea of no grind and the whole game is endgame.

in theory it sounds awesome and brilliant but in reality, hmm no grind yeah right, if you want anything that looks remotely awesome you better be prepared to endure some of the most horendous grindfest I've ever endured in any mmorpg ever !

To much RNG ruins the game completely !

And we need proper endgame exclusive to max level characters otherwise what's the point of a max level toon other than explore mode dungeons, either that or give us a harder version of dungeons with better rewards and by better I do NOT mean RNG crap or yellow rare items only once per 20x runs...!

I won't even bother to mention the ascended gear issue at all, good idea bad implementation !

Dispite all these annoying issues, I will most likely still buy the expansion, the love I have for the game is higher than the hate I have for the things I don't like about it and because I hope to see them turn things around.

also because A.net is one of the few developers that I currently trust, in contrast for example I like the premise of neverwinter but....I thoroughly do NOT trust perfect world to keep their word at all, all their games turn into a dissapointing p2w after several months of release.....they hook you in and than they start the milking once they know you're invested in their game !

How did you cap without reaching 20%? O.o I'm at 25% map completion right now at lvl 36 D:

Yes and it's going to cost 60 dollars?

I mean either way I'l pay though it also depends on the content, I didn't know it was official that it was 60 dollars though, was hoping for 40 dollars that's what most expansions cost, I guess GW1 expansions cost 50 dollars back in the day O.O, must of been a lot of content though, was it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c

Try to argue this please.

Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D

this.

That. I'd never pay for a game "just because".

This and that.  I don't see a reason why I wouldn't because I love the game, but it depends on where they take the game, what the xpac contains, and how much they charge for what they're providing.  I've paid that much, and more, for box fees and xpacs with sub games and I'm not paying a sub for this so $50 - $60 is reasonable.  I pay for my games so unless they screw it up then I'll likely buy.

depends on what they offer in the expansion. 2 new races, 2 new classes plus new PvE zones and dungeons..... and raise the level cap... then YES. It's really not a yes and no answer till we know more.

Depends. If it's anything like GW1, then yes it will be a standalone game worth of content.

As others have said, depends on the content of the expansion. If it's anything like GW1 expansions (campaigns), then yes I will most likely be willing to spend $60 on an expansion.

I voted yes.  I got a lot of enjoyment out of the game.  If they added housing it would be a 'hell yeah'. I notice they have a lot of nice art assets in the game.

They need to expand the feature list.  There's a lot of things you can do without raiding level cap.  Been a lot of talk on the forums about what those things might be.

I would never pay $60 for an xpac of any game.  For $60, it'd basically have to be such a huge expansion, akin to an entirely new game.  The sort of massive additions that would make it brand new all over again - otherwise, I'm going to spend my $60 on something that's actually brand new, instead.

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you.

1/10/13 2:22:56 AM#35

Possibly, yet here's the thing.  It would have to offer as much content by itself as GW2 did upon release, and that's one heck of an expansion.  Which for an expansion might be unlikely.

Otherwise if it offered some fraction of the content GW2 did at release as a tyical expansion would, at a $60 cost, I'd think it was a shameless money grab.

Sheldon Cooper: Leonard, be serious. We're playing a game here. (Big Bang Theory)

1/10/13 2:33:30 AM#36

Ahahahahaha.

Paying 60 bucks for the next expansion is a waste of money but, worst than that, it will be a waste of time playing it.

Leonard: Penny, you are on fire.
Penny: Yes, so is Sheldon.
[laughs]
Sheldon: Okay, that's it. I don't know how, but she is cheating. No-one can be that attractive and this skilled at a video game.
[walks away]
Penny: Wait, wait. Sheldon. Come back, you forgot something.
Sheldon: What?
Penny: This plasma grenade.
[explosion]
Penny: [laughs] Look! It's raining you.
Sheldon: You laugh now. You just wait until you need tech support. (Big Bang Theory)

Zombie - Dead but still moving.

Voted no.  Despite being a GW fan, the whole game is pretty much off my radar.  Just not a good fit.

Though ANet said it wouldn't be, GW2 is just more of the same.

I'm not paying for more of more of the same.

For me 100% positive I will buy the expansion.  Even though it isn't the next coming, it is still an innovative miracle in a sea of failed WoW clones.  Was the game a dissapointment to me?  In some ways yes, Don't like the weapon skill system and I feel tha tthe Dynamic Event system isn't fleshed out enough.  Sometimes it takes alot of running around to find new events where I am exploring.  I would prefer that the events in a zone be at least quadrupled to give the areas more appeal.  I also am dissapointed in the lack of any really immersive activites to partake in like housing or much greater variety of Weapon/Armor skins to find.  I also dislike the Trading Post greatly.  It promotes elitism and economic based stock market skills to use and since the only realible way to make money in the game coems from gaming the TP this sucks for me.  I want to make gold by playing the game not the markets.

Still though, hopefully new content is added that is both meaningful and fun without adding any more grind cause god knows the game is alll about gridning as it currently stands.  We need more character progression, give me a reason to use my 319 skill points ive accumalated other then to use it to buy crafting mats for my legendary.

If your idea of a Sandbox is open FFA Full Loot PvP, full crafted world with minimal support for anything combat then your sandbox ideas are bad! Sandbox means open world, non-linear gaming PERIOD!

The poll is flawed, where's the options for 'just show me the results' or 'don't know' ? I fall in to the latter, all depends on how the game progresses and what we expect from the expansion, didn't vote.
