I happen to agree :) Here ya go. An old D&D cartoon... - Al Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. |

Originally posted by zomard100 Gotcha, I see now. Your disdain isn't the sexuality of it but the childhood sexuality of it. So you have a complaint about the young girl look alone not partially dressed warriors. That D&D pic posted was funny hehe - catching up on the thread. |

Originally posted by greenreen Got to agree, I really don't care if every male and female character in an mmo runs around with everything hanging out as long as they look adult. I do have an issue with the tendancy towards the sexualisation of very young looking characters. currently playing: DDO, AOC, WoT, P101 |

Not to mention that extremists tend to have entirely different perspectives on matters than most in a given culture. One example in the west is the ultra feminists who consider marriage to be slavery. As far as "cards" go, the "offense" card has been played so often that its not nearly as effective as it once was. |

The cultural differenes thing while a lot of it is just a smoke screen there are some legit examples. ie. the age of consent differs from country to country and region to region within the same country. As I understand it, in most (not all) of the US states have the age of consent to be 18. Here in Canada it i 16, and until about 10-15 years ago it was 14. So what is considered statutory rape in the US is legal in Canada. Just something to consider on the cultural differences thing. My mistake it was changed in 2008 You know, in ancient Egypt. One of the hieroglyphics on the walls of the pyramids actually says 'I am upset as my heir will ruin my kingdom' or something to that affect. This is 5000BC stuff and you know what? Nothing has changed. :P |

Originally posted by VengeSunsoar You might be onto something. This shows younger than 18 often. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ages_of_consent_in_Asia Not that 18 is a magical age but the difference in 18 and 14 is pretty large in maturity. |

I think this whole debate crumbles into do you like anime or do you not like anime. Yes I played SWTOR. |

My biggest beef with anime is that the females all look like they are 8 year olds with alot of makeup on.

It's kind of annoying, I agree. There seems to have been a decision to move away from that style in the West these last 10 years, which is nice. More realism makes for better immersion. The Asian market is definitely stuck in that mode though. It could just be a simple aspect of being in such a conservative culture, sexually. Here in the US, sex is everywhere, and we don't need video games to see mini skirts and tight shirts. In Asia, anime and video games are some of the only ways you can see that.

When I think to myself, "I am going to go fight a dragon today" the first hing I do is go grab my armor thong, a thin linen strap to wrap around my boobs and some high heels, Oh and my 18 foot great sword. You can never be to careful! In all realism, its mans world and a girl has got to accept that. I watch anime and it is all the same there, too. I mean who really watches anime for the upskirt shots? Pervs.... |

It's an attention grabber. It's light, fluffy and for the most part is a universal sell to men. We love the giggly, wiggly girl. Most games offer a more conservative female option once you get in to game and they all have a male option that you can make as completely absurd. Not all guys are 6'2 and carved out of stone but that's the one we usually sculp for our game play. We find the thing we want to play with as much as play as. |
