Wow. There's a company that actually takes manners and their existing rules half way seriously? I'm starting to feel like this is the FFXI of forums, whereby if one is a serious jerk they won't survive for long in it. Classic Turn-based/Party RPG: Divinity: Original Sin Kickstarter is finished, but still accepting paypal until May 10th. |

Originally posted by colddog04 Honestly I got an infraction for telling someone to stop complaining about an issue which could easily be overcome / passed. They really are on a whole other level of bashing their own userbase. |

At Anet it's constructive or nothing.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

You were not allowed to say something rude, shocker. That was not sarcasm either. |

RULES: - Do not call yourself PORNO, it gives other ideas then playing. Avoid ban-loving games, and go play something cool, better for free. Take my post for a real joke (where 50% if funny truth). =XD P.S. gaming now is not fun, it's way to make money to devs and religion of some kind.=D try before buy, even if it's a game to avoid bad surprises. |

Did you get perma banned? Calling people names is not a constructive discussion. It is trolling. You can't speak to strangers the way you do to your friends. And hugging a stranger? If some random person who I don't know comes and hugs me, I will be like "?????????????????" |

Well if ain't that sad. What this world has turned into.
No, I only got a warning or an infraction or sth Like that. But still talking about sensitivity-some people really should grow thicker skin. I don't care what somebody calls me on the net(must be because I simply can't care about thoughts of a billion people-that and I hate shapeless masses of people). |

So because you called a paying customer a more old fashioned way of saying 'idiot' you think it is acceptable? Why would you think that an offical forum would tolerate that? I guess one could say that you are a bit of a nitwit.

Originally posted by Gorwe Calling anyone any sort of name is considered a personal attack and rightfullly so I'm afraid. it prevents flaming quite nicely actually, so I do like the way they strictly moderate their forums. do what most do and write kitten in it or some other imaginative way that doesn't sound directly pointed at one specific person and you should be fine. |

I do think this has to be one of the most overmoderated forums I've ever seen. I got an infraction for not putting "In My Opinion" in a title. They also editted my thread. I was talking about how I felt the Arah Seer path could use a redesign because the dungeon takes at least 2-4 hours and the bosses are boring including one you could sit there and AFK autoattack. Most ridiculous infraction I've ever received, of course it's my opinion that's why I post on forums I never stated anything as a fact. Makes you appreciate these forums more and more. |

There is one thing I feel that I should point out here though, the GW2 forums infraction system doesn't always mean you did something wrong. infraction is more like an intervention by any moderator the infraction system has several levels and layers to it, for example I've been infracted for posting something on the general forums instead of in a specific sub forum that is more addecuate for my post, now is that a bad infraction ? no ofcourse not it simply meant action was taken by a moderator to move that thread to where it can serve it's purpose more easily.
just saying.
Also this is my 2nd account on these mmorpg forums and while it's sometimes nice to say what you want to people w/o any moderation at all, let's face it this is the internet and annonimity breeds dooshbags, I closed my 1st account because I was fedup, I have this one now for the occasional good topics and ofcourse for the key giveaways and contests :D |

But why did they delete the whole post instead of a single Word?
Meh, makes no Sense. |

It's funny how the OP is complaining about people with thin skins and yet the OP apparently has a thin skin too...
Learn to look at it from another perspective... you're only looking it at it from your own... thus... your perspective is skewed. |

Good!
Sometimes I would call out people I thought were acting stupid, or use sarcasm on them. After a while what I realised is that as soon as you do that you become part of the problem that has reduced forums from useful gathering places for like minded people to the petty, bile infested one upmanship contests that most forums have become, rather than part of the solution. Promoting thought a new Gaming video blog http://www.youtube.com/user/quinnthalas discussing games, gamers and the internet with gameplay footage as background. |

Is the offical forum worst than GW2Guru was a few months before beta, when it comes to fanboic assults?

Originally posted by Gorwe I seldom bother with many official forums. They are welcome to use what ever policy they wish, its a private forum. I'm also welcome not to use their forum. On the subject of forums, Sanya Weathers is one of the best CM's I've run across. She has always been even handed and fair, but keeps the trolls under their bridges, and the biting flies out of the forums. Its all in how things are handled. |
