GW1 has 12 player group instances vs GW2 which only has 5 player group instances Which is more fun?

Your poll sucks. The number of players is immaterial in and of themselves. Whats important is how group size content is designed within that particular combat system. 20 players dueling in the same area is very different from a 10v10 skirmish.
I did battle with ignorance today, and ignorance won. To exercise power costs effort and demands courage. That is why so many fail to assert rights to which they are perfectly entitled - because a right is a kind of power but they are too lazy or too cowardly to exercise it. The virtues which cloak these faults are called patience and forbearance. |

Pretty sure GW1 only had a max of 8 except for like one where two partys of 8 are in one mission. I believe GW1 is the better game, but come on. The dead horse is a dead pulp now |

Originally posted by jinxxed0 Guild Wars Factions had two 12-player "elite missions," Urgoz's Warren and The Deep. Additionally the Alliance Battles PvP format has a team of 12 players in 3 squads of 4 on each side. With the power-creep that came with Nightfall, Eye of the North and later content the elite missions can now be completed by a single player with 7 NPC "hero" companions, even in hardmode. |

GW1 will always be my favorite game, it was my first "mmorpg", coorpg. BUT at the moment GW2 is better. Henchmen and heroes in gw1 ruin the social interaction with other players which is a big problem in an isntanced game like gw1. I prefer 5 man group rather than 8 or 12. Faction is my favorite campaign and had some really nice features, then Nightfall came and added heroes and nothing new or positive, Nightfall had nice story but Phropecies and Factions is my favorites still, then Eye of the north is really good aswell. |

Ok, first of all, GW1's cap was 8 players. There were only a couple of elite missions which allowed 12 people. Also I can tell you that 99% of the time you don't play with 12 people in a party. Often we would take henchies/heroes to Urgoz or the Deep. So that kinda changes the argument. True you could play with 12 people doing the elite missions like Urgoz, DoA etc. BUT most people played with heroes/henchies. Sometimes you would only have 2-3 real people in the party! I loved GW1 but GW2 is much more fun in the sense that it promotes social interaction. In GW1 you used henchies/heroes a lot! I think 5 people is the perfect size. |

Option 4: The number of players doesn't matter.

i was going to vote but i wont. In my opinion small group sucks in every mmo but obviously its faster to form a small group. i think guilds should have the option to perform as one big group divided in two (PvP and PvE) out in the world. You join a guild, you are in a huge party every time. Switch it ON to adventure with guildies and OFF to adventure with guildless friends. There you have it, a big group for instances, pvp, whatever you like, with your entire guild as one big group. This wouldnt work on mmos where you play the UI instead of the game because you wouldnt have so many names on screen. But it can work on games like GW2. TERA, and even TESO that wont have heals and buffs based on "clicking someones health bar" to heal them.
As for GW1 12 players vs GW2 5 players group instances. If every game has to have the exact same features. Why keep making new games? Some features become standard and should always be in every game (like mobility while casting, and dynamic events or at least dynamic questing), but group sizes is not one of them. Just have different group sizes in every game. X games has 8 player groups, Y game has 15 player groups, Z game has both 4 and 10 player groups. Something along those lines, depending on how challenging the content is and how social friendly the actual game is. |

Where is the option of "Lets wait till GW2 has two expansions and has out been out for years before we start comparing it to its predecessor " ?

i like the smaller groups for dungeon stuff. I never been much of a raider and find it generally takes to much time to organize and get bigger groups together anyway(my life schedule is to erratic to have set raiding times nowadays)... glad teso is going the small group route for dungeons as well
I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg |

Originally posted by rojo6934 I thinkt hat's their idea with Guild Missions. It's still in it's infancy and has ton (or even more) work before it's fleshed out to a proper state but the framework is there. For the OP tho. Thing with GW1 and it's groupnumber is that everything is instanced. GW2, while not fully openworld due to zone transition alwos for open worldish gameplay across zones. So in theory you could say there is conent for gorups of even 50 poeple if they want to do it that way in form of meta event and the guild missions, not to mention WvWvW. NEither however is "better". Play what you like, don't play what you don't like. It's as simple as that. |
