Recently been interested in a certain game. For the sake of this thread, I won't say which one. However, the forums here have not been very helpful. Most of the posts I come across are from the same people over and over (Red flag) repeating themselves. The second most popular type of post is from newly created accounts (Red flag) with only one post. I have had to dig, so to speak, through all of it to try to find relevant posts for me. All the while, I am realizing the only way I can do this is from well placed "red flags" that I have developed from using forums.
I am far from an expert on this subject and would like some help. What are some of these red flags that trigger for you when sifting through these boards? Maybe we can help each other get to the relevant information much faster or perhaps even make posts that will make better impressions. Frankly, I haven't been using the boards long enough to know most people by name and whether I can trust the post or even if I agree with them on other issues. Any help would be appreciated.
Post the things that make you see red :) |

I tend to have red flags about a game when posters go to a thread about a different game and either A) bash that game for lacking whatever their game has (or they think will have) or B) praise their game for whatever features they think the game will have. This usually leads to a build of of "hype" (I really hate that word) and often leads to people being disappointed, quitting the game and making it more difficult to find groups, leaves and empty world feeling, etc. This seems to have happened for every major mmo relese since WoW.

Brand new poster that out of the blue disses or praises the game. Necro posters People incapable of finding any faults or perks with a game Bill Murphy >_> 1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical. 2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself. 3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose. |

1. Marketing team that over promises setting up the game for failure due to dev team under delivering 2. a Mmo that many scream to say it has so much potential yet all they can muster is making raid content to keep the treadmill going.
