Its better to be quiet and perceived as stupid, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. |

Originally posted by Wraithone I actually opted to use "Major" because EA, SOE and NCSoft all had pretty high closing numbers lol. Was simply easier to address the more popular games.
I wasn't advocating funcom, I was simply saying if we rule out those that have closed down games thats what we are left with lol.
In the end, I personally feel any developer not self publishing should regret their choice of publisher. In todays age there not as overly needed as they were in days past. With digital distribution being such a big thing now and advertising for gaming being an easy thing to accomplish there isn't a great need for publishers. There is still need, but it isn't as great as it once was.

I am a capitalist. If you so choose search my post history, you will find this is a common theme. Being such, I choose to "vote with my wallet". I was eager to see how Wildstar developed, but after NC shut down CIty with such careless disrespect, I will not. Many share my feeling on this. Sorry NC.
Edit: Let me jsut add, I have zero issue paying a sub, If the game and company are quality enough. |

Gamer Communities tend to react poorly to corporate control. Remember Bobby Kotick and B.net+Facebook+Privacy Issues? From a public relations standpoint, botched completely from day one. And easily the longest-running thread in WoW General (historically the home of enormous firestorms) History. Resulting in "outing" of several Blizzard employees (including Kotick's family) to personal abuses from angry gamers on the internet.
The forum/internet culture may simply have degenerated beyond any direct control less than a machiavellian police state. The typical corporate responses may be exactly what you should be avoiding. An unusual amount of openness and honesty at the corporate level tends to make for a happy forum. -Nearly every single bad trend in MMO development was started by the developers.--Wordiz |

Hope it ends up being a good game and I hope it has a monthly subscription fee. I'd really rather not play another crap B2P or FtP mmorpg with cash shops, if I can help it. I'm very interested in the housing system for Wildstar. The more I watch about WildStar the more worried I get. It seems more and more like handholding you through the gameplay, sadly.
What happens when you log off your characters????..... |

Originally posted by Xstatic912 That's because ANet always said that despite being published by NCSoft they were given free reign with development, which was true up until release. Post-release the direction of the game suddenly changed and I don't think many can deny that NCSoft had started interfering with development. Many people didn't trust NCSoft before GW2 and a lot more will refuse to trust them now. |

Originally posted by Alberel I'm not quite certain what game the NCsoft CEO is playing at this point. Having spent some time in Korea, I suspect I know at least part of the problem, but without having met him, I can't be certain. What I do know is that any western studio that picks NCsoft as a publisher, given its past history, is either ignorant or desperate (or both). Neither bode well for the studio or its players. Especially not now that Nexon is NCsofts largest share holder. Nexon makes NCsoft look saintly. |

Ah, the Evils of Living on Credit . . . being beholden to another.
Company, organization, or individual, the potential trap is the same. Wherever you go, there you are. |
