Impressive. Not often you see an apology like this from a development studio. But talk is cheap, what matters is action.

We chose to rely too much on numbers – percentage of refund requests, number and dynamic of our daily and monthly active users, etc. Well, in hindsight – those things probably work well for more casual games, but the hardcore PC gaming community is much different and can be very vocal about what they feel. Even when the percentage of players with negative comments is small, as the community grows, even a small percentage can add up to be a very significant absolute number. And it’s not just a number – those are real people with real issues they are having with the game. OP Productions (publisher for War Z) and me personally have failed to address those issues effectively. the game is now so popular "Negative Nancies are just a vocal minority, but we're starting to think even those pesky whiners are human! The majority is very pleased with our game!" I admit I haven't played this game, but this letter sounds mostly like a marketing move. "Don't worry, our game is really awesome and people love it! Buy it NOW!" I'd understand a letter like this after a small-scale, but embarrassing mistake like Funcom's continuous failures to release a TSW update or ANet's buggy events or Valve letting War Z in Steam. However, War Z's launch is a bit worse than that, isn't it? Originally posted by Yamota Also this. |

Originally posted by Aconsar actually because the developer and its parent company had a previous relationship with steam and valve there was no quality checks at all, its meant to fast track releases from approved devvelopers but in this case its obvious that it was abused, but its pretty funny that you think what youdo.

This game was not in development before Day Z. It tried to ride the coat tails and fell on it's face. They lied about being in development for 2 years....among other things. lol@that

Originally posted by Aconsar It's no spin, steam looks into every game that's put up on the list to sell... It seems abundantly clear, that you have no clue WTF happened here. Also it's quite clear you have no clue how Steam works at all. You try to push this onto Valve? Yeah, you're delusional. I won't even bother explaining, because it's also very clear what your stance would be, even after that. |

No word of them unbanning the thousands of accounts that got banned for mentioning the steam lies. No word on giving refunds to those asking for it. No word on actually fixing the game from the copy of War Inc it is. No actual apology for the many lies So, to sum it up... Just damage control for all the hits they are taking. You know its bad when Forbes runs the story. You know they had to do something and I'm actually shocked that this was the best they came up with. |

There was a thread talking about this in general discussion on the game forums that was just deleted, so nope things are not changing, still nothing but hot air from an arrogant individual.

Words are easy and going on past actions I certainly wouldn’t buy into this game or developer. |

Originally posted by Rawiz This was my first thought as I was reading the letter, every response I have read from Sergey has been poorly written, this letter does not convey the feeling that he wrote it at all, I imagine it was passed onto an unpaid intern to sort out. He emphasised the point that the vocal members of the community where in the minority, if this truly was the case he would still have carried on ignoring them and just looked at the "700k" of players he has roaming about his 50-100 man servers.

No mention of the legally imposed name change of the game should be a red flag.

You can support what you want but please be aware that you may be supporting some shady people and damaging the games industry. If you want this kind of fps-pvp I would have thought your cash would be best spent of the DayZ standalone. |

Quite frankly I have been wondering why they released in such an unfinished state as that none of what they were claiming was in the game? They were trying to say it was a beta, but that's what testing is for? Why release a product in beta as a finished product other than just a money grab and to hell with the buyers. I was thinking about getting the game, but not now. If they are not gonna put out a game in a finished state, then the game is not worth a second look. People were all up in arms about ToR when it was put out and yet it could be played all the way thru with what they said was gonna be in it. A lot needed fixing because of bugs and such, but at least it was in the game. |
