I really enjoyed some non MMO games this year. Borderlands 2, Dishonored, XCOM, Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3, and Torchlight 2 were a lot of fun. Mass Effect 3's multiplayer was the biggest surprise. I expected to hate it, but I actually ended up having fun and playing a large number of hours in it. As far as MMOs go, I tried out a couple of new ones (GW2 & Tera). They were not really my taste, so I ended up back in Rift & SWToR. Rift's expansion has been a huge improvement on the game. Instant adventure also works really well for those on a time crunch. |

I went back to LOTRO and so far I'm loving it. It has a more hardcore feel to it than other modern MMO's I think. I'm not too sure I like where its going in terms of making it easier. Most people praise the loot system but I think it makes things too convenient. Riders of Rohan looks fantastic though and I can't wait to finally get to that part of the game after so many years wondering whats beyond Moria. I am surprised LOTRO doesn't get much love on this site. It deserves a lot more credit than it is given. |

No Mass Effect 3? I mean if you are going to bring up single player games, how can you miss the game of the year and the controversy of the ending? Above all else... never ever piss off the penguin. |

Asheron's Call 2 re-launched was the best thing to happen in 2012.
