KingsIsle and their community are very ignorant about the actual Quetzals, and they keep using the same excuse about referring to the Aztec god. Get educated and don't be so ignorant. |

I'll say however that I was pretty pleased that Star Citizen got the "rising star" award. Im seriously interested in that game as well. I have the origional Wing Commander stored on my external and loved all the Wing Commander games as a kid. Even the first Wing Commander is still fun to play through, and still my favorite of the WC series. Can't beat a classic like that.
The only thing about Star Citizen that depresses me is the long wait until it sees fruition. I haven't had a gaming joystick in the span of the last decade, as I didn't need it for games like FreeLancer and such. But I'm seriously thinking about picking one up for Star Citizen some day.
I just look at the development of Star Citizen as one of those tiny little miracles in the industry of gaming as a whole. The fact its even being made is kind of mind blowing. I can't wait to see the end result. |

Originally posted by cheyinza It looks like some further clarification is in order. Wizard 101 does not have 30 million players, they have had 30 million people try the game over the years. A very, very small percentage of that number became subscribers at some point and the current sub rate is miniscule in comparison to the overall subs they have had altogether.
As I play both pirate 101 and GW2, I can say the population on both games is pretty low. To say one has a more significant population than the other is misleading as both lack a serious population at this time. In fact, I have heard from more than a few people in the know, that Kingisle is currently not happy with the poplulation in Pirate 101 and expected a bigger player base. Current subs on Wizard 101 are also bordering on the lowest the game has ever had. You will see a new promotional effort within the next month or two geared toward bringing in more subs into both Wizard 101 and Pirate 101.
The difference in players choosing Pirate 101 over GW2 in this type of vote i believe signicantly revolves around the type of players who play the game and the effort of the manufacturer to promote the game. Most people playing GW2 really don't care about this type of thing where I believe the population of pirate 101 cares much more about this type of thing as evidenced by player conversatons and efforts by KI themselves. I received an email from KI to vote and saw more than a few threads as well. Either way both games are good games. Happy Holidays everyone!! |

Congratulations to Pirate 101(what is that game?) I'm about to go try this game out. Lol.
Okay I check the website out, I'm sure it's a good game for what it is, no lie, and plus it's player awards, so that's cool, I think each game deserved their rewards from the players on [this] site. You guys be easy and enjoy life, peace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ns-IIn-DG-c Try to argue this please. Oh also if you quote me and it's to argue my point, if I don't respond it means I haven't been corrected by you and/or I haven't seen it. Remember I don't mind admitting I am in the wrong. Take care :D |

Grats P101! Now I need to try this game. Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros |

This thread turns out to be a very entertaining read. Thus a small-ish game with a community beats a game with plenty of fanboys but no community to speak of? There's hope left in the genre. I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions. |

Originally posted by Zalmon Because it makes sense and doesn't seem like a crock of shit? Well yeah, the MMORPG community has been talking about GW2 for years, no one's been talking about Pirate101 until now... I wonder what the point of even having a "community" is when the community's votes don't matter. You and I know why Pirate101 won this thing, and it wasn't because of MMORPG users. /shrug Maybe all these 1 post wonders will stick around and contribute! /sarcasm no GW2 won't kill WoW, but it's time to move on and quit worrying about those people still playing it. - eyelolled |

Originally posted by Eir_S Actually, I checked up on that and this site checks IP addresses, so unless they had quite a lot of computers or just went to friends houses to use theirs or places like where you can use a computer like Best Buy, which is unlikely, you can't really spam the polls. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” ~Mahatma Gandhi |

ROFL All this carry on over an award, do you get this upset watching the Oscars? Personaly when purchasing a game or looking into a game, awards are not something I give much credence to, I play what I enjoy regardless of what others think. Congratz to the winners BTW |

Complete joke.. Should admit that they advertised for their players to vote and even gave incentives..
Hell, it's not even "funny" it's shameful.. |

Ortwig, Pirate101 is a fun game. Very different from the carbon copy hack-and-slash MMORPG grind fests that seem to pop up on a daily basis. I enjoy it as an adult but alos like that I can let my kids play without having to worry about blood splattered guts and gore or 90% naked women with physical attributes bordering on the impossible being plastered all over the screen.

Kim Jong Un technically "won" the Time's person of the year award.... wonder how that happened. Sounds legit to me. |

As a GW2 player I do not know how to handle this second place behind Pirates 101. Should I start playing Pirates 101 or go cry for my game loss? Leonard: Penny, you are on fire. |
