Hey all. Just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else have the same. In these fractal times I've noticed that having my torrent client open will result in multiple random DC's. Anyone else experienced the same? Never had this problem with any other games. |

Torrents + Any online game = Bad Time Do you know how taxing on the bandwith Peer-to-Peer is? "Some of the less objective people tend to be close-minded though and basically disregard any possible shortcomings that gw2 could have." |

MMORPGs are no longer about the mass multi-user anymore *sadly* |

Might also be a modem problem you're having. I remember an ISP I was with using such crappy modems, when I was downloading torrents for half a day, the modem just would lock itself up. Answering your question, I didn't experience your problem with GW2, but I did have similar problems with STO though... Demigoth's RPG adventures ~ My blog ASUS M4N72-E |

I have something that prioritizes different programs. This allows for the bandwidth not to be affected when playing an online game. I have a killer network card with the application that controls each program's access to the internet and how to allow which takes precedence.

I'm using a traffic shaper to avoid those problems: |

To clarify, even if the client is just open this happens, we have a 60/30mbit connection and even if the torrents barely have any speed at all this happens. It is for sure not too much traffic. Its not really a problem for me, but just wanted to know if anyone else had the same.

I don't DC, but it's pretty much the same thing.. I get random black screens, I can click esc and see the menu but can't do anything but alt-f4 out. This happens randomly, but mostly in crowded areas. I've never had this problem in any other MMOs

With a good router including the right QoS settings, enough bandwith and bandwith filtering in your torrent client, things will work out just fine.

Dunno. I know my client still has random CTD issues, which is annoying, but that's different from a DC. If you're talking about actual connection problems, well then running torrents in the background is hands down the best way to trigger that. I don't think I've been able to run any online game decently with torrents running on in the background. They either have constant connection issues (as both clients are fighting each other for the same bandwidth), or the game lags so much it's unplayable. Don't run torrets while playing online games. |
