Anyway thats besides the point, Darkfall beta launched early this morning, if you want to get in a beta test a MMORPG that has full loot PVP then give Darkfall:UW beta a go but please remember its a beta so there will be bugs and knowing AV lots of them.

If you want to play a single player RPG then give Skyrim a go its actaully pretty good.

But this question was a bit silly really as only you know what you want..

Pardon? Skyrim finished in 40 hours? The main quest maybe, but all the game? Have you actually played it?

40 hours to finnish the main quest, the dark brotherhood, the thieves guild, the magic college, get your recognition in all cities, side quests, collectables... seriously?

Listen, I got over 900 hours in Skyrim and I still have stuff to do. And if I run out of stuff I can just download yet another mod. Please, get your facts straight.

When Skyrim came out around 11/11/11

I got a bann for saying Darkfall was similar but better than Skyrim....

I am warning people that if they buy DW:UW now to get into beta to expect bugs..

I still dont think Darkfall failed as the game was up and running until they took it down for the new game.. if it failed it owuld have closed ages ago. Was it as popular as wow no... was it as popular as they wanted it to be.. maybe not but it didnt fail. thousands of people enjoyed the game up to the end..

anyway this si gonig off topic..

People who are thinking about pre-ordering DF:UW to play beta do not expect a fully working game with no bugs.. its as simple as that.

OP, if you want to play alone then go with Skyrim. If you want to play online with people then go with DF.

The 2 games are beyond comparison So just go with what you really want. I would personally pick Skyrim (and some mods) anytime because its a better game for me (note i said for me, personally). I dont like DF and i wont play it just because others like it.

also ignores totally that you don't even need to complete the main quest, i found i get distracted into doing way too many other things playing skyrim, not sure i even have that many achievements, Skyrim is designed after all to be something of a 'sandbox' game, you don't have to play it in a particular way, its also what has made Bethesdas TES games so popular, and thats before you get into all the modding that goes on, though imo, to truly get the most out of Skyrim, you need a PC to play it on, the console versions imo, are just not near good enough.  Still, comparing DF to Skyrim is probably one of the weirdest i've come across this month, and its been a really weird month

True enough, but this does not mean "you can complete the game in 40 hours" like the post I was answering to said, does it.

Most players don't actually complete any MMO for that matter, and just hop from game to game, sometimes not even reaching level cap. This does not mean the game has nothing more to offer, which was my point.

i agree to this.

i played over 250 hours in Skyrim and i havent beat the main quest line and still have a lot of side quests to do. Also, i dont have any of the new DLC that adds quests and stuff.

Comparing a single player game with an mmo is kinda nuts

My wife took pity on me and gave me  one of my Christmas presents early...after watching me NOT play GW2.   SKYRIM.

The only single player I've played in a dozen years has been Civilization......so this was quite a change from the mmo disappointments.

My first reaction to Skyrim.......so much freedom.I create my own advenures when I just decide to go hunting and see what happenes.I ran "literally" into a neophite conjuror last night(trying to excape some bandits) and decided to try to understand how to shoot my long bow and started with him.FUN FUN.

And the games quest line ? I'll get to it when I get to it.

Skyrim is an awesome game. You would be wise to get it. As for comparing it and getting one or the other between DFUW, they are toally different games and I don't know that a comparison, other than the obvious one of course, can be made. If you just simply cannot afford to buy two video games, which I don't think anyone here has accounted for, then you need to decide if you want to play with people and primarily work with PvP stuff, or want to do what Skyrim offers, which again is comletly different.

To the people saying you completed, and were done with, Skyrim in less than 50 hours... What a waste of money on your part. At 60 or so hours in, I am barely even through a small part of the main story line. I've just started the theives guild stuff, and plan to do Dark Brotherhood after that. I LOVE all the side quests... While you may or may not personally find the little sub-stories all too interesting, it's quite honestly still far more story than you are getting out of a MMORPG.

I've never in my life understood the point of buying an RPG, and just flying through it with no care or regard for the insane amount of sidequests and such that are in there. I feel like y ou are just cheating yourself, particuarly in Skyrim this is true in my opinion.

Im guessing this was not meant as a comparison of the two games but a simpler question of opinion.

Skyrim is an awesome game, DFUW is....early beta and currently unplayable so it's a bit of a no-brainer really.

However, if your one of those players who likes to support a game like DFUW then thats a different matter.

Skyrim, imo was lame. Elder Scrolls isn't what it used to me. The series has been casualized too much with quest markers, auto travels, linear dungeons. If you're looking for an immersive single player action RPG get Dark Souls instead. But if I had to pick one between DF and Skyrim it would be DF hands down.

You said it mate, Morrowind was probably the best in the Edler Scroll series. There were INTERESTING quests absoutely everywhere, certain decisons blocked out whole series of quests, these was no direct fast travelling and no breadcrumb trail to hold your hand.

Anyways on topic, it's not a fair comparison, but it really depends on how much you're willing to shell out. If you're looking for a great RPG to play, go skyrim. If you want to take a chance on this game and see what it has to offer, try DF. However DF has a 15 dollar/month sub fee, Skyrim as several DLCs, there's that to keep in mind.

If you haven't seen it you might find this amusing and interesting concerning the dumming down of the elderscrolls series.

I will admit he has a lot of valid points. Though I'm not convinced it's solely about casuals as opposed to people with different tastes. One can be casual and still want engaging games.

as far as the topic, both games play differently and are about different things. If I were to make a choice I would go with skyrim. I'm still avidly playing skyrim and have been playing morrowind more and more in recent months.
