Rangarok Online had that. A skill that would increase your attack speed but permanently blind you in return. Too bad blindness effect was client side so people just hacked their clients to remove it.

You guys act like they force you to castrate yourself in RL. Its just a game and new feature for hardcore players to get themselves busy.

As far as I know there were quite alot of martial art practitioners who castrated themselves in order to devote themselves completely in the way of fist. Developers studied history and add pretty accurate details to the game. Im sure I will never get this skill, but I like the idea.

I wonder how many feel the same about George R Martin's Game Of Thrones and his inclusion of Eunuchs especially Lord Varys. They will tell you what a great writer he is or how great the books our no doubt

I don't support running my sword through someones gut or beheading someone but i do it every day in games, especially MMOs.

Anyone who has played Age Of Conan will tell you they don't support the finishing moves in real life.

That comment made no sence to me.

I think it's a great feature and another thing to aim for if you are that type of player, no one is forcing anyone to do it.

They're pulling these ultimate abilities from established wuxia lore. Both are from the novel "Xiao Ao Jiang Hu"  by Jin Yong.

what you see in the comments is just your typical bias and  anti eastern mentality of this forums. most of them are always whining that games are ether too childish or not 'sandboxy' enough. here is a game which is obviously either full sandbox or has many sandbox features yet people just come up with ridiculous statements as to why the game is 'bad'.

personally the system sounds great, and as historically acurate as a game could (or should) be. when it releases it hopefully will be polished enough and add something new and worthwhile to the MMO market.

Star Sucking sounds so much better than Star Absorbing.

But castration? Sigh.

Ugh, sounds like an awful, boring PvP grind to me. No thanks. If I wanted that I'd do WoW battlegrounds / arenas.

Why'd they have to ruin this game with FFA PvP anyway? Was so looking forward to it until I found out about that particular 'feature'. Sigh..

Edit: Not to mention, you're gonna be hurting for a LOT more than 24 hours after castration, even with modern surgical techniques. Also, what do female characters do? Mutiliate their genitalia in some fashion, or are they just SOL and can't learn the technique?

The above two skills in AoW is based on the lore, for example in the game you need a special needle to use the Sunflower Skill and opponents falling to save against Star Absorbing skill would have their cultivation points drained and movement reduced. The leeched cultivation points restored the HP and Internal strength of the player using the Star Absorbing skill.

The skills are extremely difficult to train and in some way those who achieve them are 'accursed' in game fulfilling the lore.

Anyway players who spend all their time trying to achieve them might neglected their other studies and found themselve having to contest against players making better progress than they in 4th tier school skills and beyond.

I might be wrong and having left WOW just after battlegrounds came out perhaps you can point me to where WOW has this type of PVP.

Females can channel Sunflower skill without harm. But any man who doesn't 'cut it' will be driven crazy and eventually kill by it.

In Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series there is a somewhat similar concept where only female Aes Sedai can normally use the force call One Power.

Which part killed your urge lol, skills like these are not meant to come easy. If your talking about the effects of the castration then you do know that beheading and the prison system have side effects, right?

When you first make a character in Age Of Wushu it gives you a message before you log in.

Basically it tells you that the game is a FFA PVP game, do you want to proceed. This isn't GW2 or WOW, logging into the game means you know what you are getting yourself into. Of course you are safe for a while untill you build cultivation to 11 or internal school level 5 up.

Funny thing is because the type of game it is you find players are pretty honorable.

1st off, awsome concept of a skill, gotta be pretty ballsy to do that heh.

2nd: honorable in EU/USA not the same as in Korea. No idea how Chinese PvP tho, but I'll just assume it's similar to how Koreans play, which is a LOT more honorable. As in, when ppl see you fighting, they don't interfere mostly, whereas in US/EU it's the opposite... Hell, here you have whole guilds dedicated to griefing, lowbie killing, zerging and what not, their main sustenance the tears of the fallen opponents and the QQ of slain on forums their bedtime stories. So far in any FFA PvP game (and even without severe penalites) I saw precious little honor among players. Not to mention, the bigger the penalty, the higher the incentive to cheat.

So that's why we can't have nice things, imo.

at first in chinese version was same, pkers were running everywhere, but with time they clm down, also chinese version added system where guild can set battle with other guild, they chose map and they can pk there without any penalty for 24h

but its still more like gang fest, bigger guilds just stay corner smaller one at spawn points till they are bored

Yeah the one power is split between two, the female uses the saidar and men use the saidin. In the time of Rand al'Thor the mens side is tainted and has been for 3000 years. Any man using it is hunted down and stilled by the Aes Sedai because of the said madness and havoc it would cause.

I have all the book but it's a pity that he kind of lost his way towards the end, perhaps James Oliver Rigney, Jr- aka Robert Jordan having cancer made the books a blurry mess mash in the end.

Years ago their was talk of an MMO based on the Wheel Of Time series ..
