I'm glad they went B2P, I think it's a good game but not sub-worthy so I didn't play after the first month... I'm downloading patch 1.5 now. Assuming I make it back from Europe after Xmas I will give it another go. I was wondering, even though it doesn't affect me, but can lifers use any unused Funcom points on AoC assuming they camn link their accounts. I have a lifetime sub on LotrO and have it linked to DDO, I can use all my unused Turbine points on DDO ot LotRO. Might be worth further investigation. |

This is a great game. The problem it has keeping players has little to do with the subscription, and more to do with the fact that they made it a themepark dungeon grinder that gets old after 30-90 days of play. They need to start adding more gameplay systems and stop worrying so much about story content. People want a reason to hang out in this game because they love the theme, setting and other things. However, when they get bored, they leave and it becomes increasingly difficult to find a reason to log back in. I wouldn't mind at all paying a full subscription for this game if there was more than story and dungeons to do. |

Joel, Shut up and take my money.
B2P is the best model imo and TSW did the most correct choice they could have made and i applaud them for it. Joel answers questions very sincerely it seems and it doesn't feel like PR speech. I hope they will get the success they deserve.
I'm buying the game right away. |

Well, with only days to go before we all die in an unknown, but horrible fashion, this is welcome news. ^^ TSW has always been a great story in search of a game, but if they can fix the game dynamics, this new business model may actually work for them.

This B2P model looks really good. Now I can shop around for update packs that look interesting. New weapons, dungeons and zones are a must, packs with 5 new missions etc not so much for me.

Good move, I'm very happy with this as a Lifetimer. The one thing the game needs most is new players, avery move that brings them in is much appreciated. The game itself was and is great and as long as the future content patches maintain the quality they had over the last couple of month The Secret World will have a good Future. Thanks Joel!

The lack of corporate spin on this announcement is refreshing, taking a "no bullshit" approach works in FunCom's favour quite well I think. A strong interview, it will be interesting to see what the TSW critics of it's sub model will be using as their next excuse to tear down what is undoubtedly one of the more unique games on the MMO market today. |

Excelent news. I bought the game and subed for couple of months, but i couldn't realy justify the mothly fee to myself, so i quit. I'll defenatly be returning and i'll check the shop too, i wont mind spending 5 bucks a month there, if there is nice stuff to purchase. |

I'm usually against moves away from subscriptions, but in this case I think it is a great move (and has been done 'right'). TSW is ceratinly a good game, but to me the gameplay just didn't work for a subscription model (part of the reason I quit). With a heavy focus on story, atmosphere, puzzle solving, and horizontal progression I wanted to take my time and ponder things while outside of the game... but with a subscription fee looming each month I just felt rushed. Only hope the world doesn't end before my new computer arrives... |
