Any idea if people who already own FF14 will be getting any free playtime on its release? Even 7 days would be sufficent to see if I want to sub, I am thinking of starting over even though I got a whm in full AF already and numerious lv 35-40 jobs. Just because the game has been pretty much completly redone I wanna experence it, of course though my new char will have a silver spoon in her mouth because I'll transfer all my gil to her, so I won't be hurting for money.

if you own a copy if V1 you get V2 free as a patch . I think I heard that there will be a 30 day free trial. Witch is typical for SE to do XI did it , V1 was going that way until the back lash at it. Legacy members can get the full 15$ sub fee for 10$ .

They should just make it a free to play game with a subscription option. That is the only way they are going to save face on screwing up the first version.

Everyone will get another 30 day free for 2.0.
Subscription prices are $9.99 for legacy(payed for 3 months before September 31st), $13 for 1 character per world, and $15 for 8 character slots per world.
If the lag is the same in 2.0 I'm out. Nothing in the game aggravated me more than to be out of the plumes on Ifrit and still get hit by them due to lag. I'm not even sure what I'll have to do in the game since i already have everything maxed out.

Think they said after launch they are going to raise the cap by 5 with the 1st major content update which my guess will be about 3-4 months after ARR launches.

Legacy status gets subscription discount. When ARR goes live, those who bought and registered V1.0 will get the first 30 days free. The engine used on V1 is the engine that is used for FFXIII and can only handle 40 npc's/players at a time and should never been used for FFXIV, they have completely rebuilt ARR and created an engine specificily for the new version build. They ran a stress test a week ago, but I dunno if it was at all an accurate representation of the load it will get at launch. They might have been just testing the load balancing tech. I'm sure there will be bigger tests to come, but for now, I'm going to asume there will be lag at launch. |
