Darkfall is more like a clan warfare pvp MMO, that is sandbox lite, as appose to a "sandbox" mmo. I don't think that anygame where the developers goal is for you to join a clan and go to war over territory with other clans is the same kind of a sandbox game as EVE. Is darkfall a sandbox? sure, it has sandbox elements, like freeform character development, on use skilling, the ability to craft everything, but is the game about being a sandbox? No, DF:UW, just like DF is about joining a clan and going to war with other clans. Is DF:UW going to be a sandbox like EVE is a sandbox? Not at all. Totally different types of sandboxes. DF:UW is more like Shadowbane than UO. DF:UW will not be anymore tallored to the non pvper than DF was. |

Thanks for the answers. It seems Darkfall is not the kind of game I am looking for. Anyone know if there is a more sandboxy title out there that isn't EVE (not a fan of the skill training, combat system, ui, and travelling in that game)?

This sub-board seems filled with angry ragers and trolls who find it funny to post innacurate information about the game to scare people away. |

Originally posted by stealthbr I wouldn’t make that decision yet, many of the answers given earlier in the thread are straight up wrong. I would honestly wait a couple weeks or so and read/watch some of the reviews from people that do games like darkfall and eve. The first reviews that come out after a day or so, won’t be very fair, positive or negative because of how deep the conquest, city building, clan/guild, ect, side of darkfall really is. |

I didn't read the whole thread, so if someone already gave a nice explanation, just ignore this. Darkfall is often claimed to be a sandbox game, which is only partially true. Darkfall has many features you would expect to see in a sandbox game, such as housing, player cities, open pvp(UW will have some safe zones, but they seem to be minimal, and should not affect pvp aside from new players, or players who wish to stay in low risk areas, such as crafters), full loot and economics. However, the thing that crushes darkfalls hopes to be a full on sandbox is the fact that the game world cant truly be changed. You can build up your city, but all the buildings are in predetermined spots, which takes it from being a sandbox city to just giant cookie cutter. Don't get me wrong, the cities serve their purpose and i rarely ever felt that it took away from the game.
Overall, i would say that darkfall is a sandbox in a similar way that eve is, however you can't decide where you put the sand, unlike in eve where you can place you stations and what-not freely. I'm not trying to say that darkfall has all the sandbox that eve does, but they do share their similarities.
If anyone disagrees with this, let me know and ill try to make it more accurate. |

however the guy that answered you every question is not correct in some cases.
For example there are regional ressources, you have danger levels for ressources ( more danger areas have better loot).
You have ofc tradehubs and these will be the 100% safe NPC cities and in the near feature you have local markets.
didnt check the rest of the list
Edit: checked abit more and even the guy answering in red has mistakes. For example the campfire thing, you got campfires and you also can place regional banks that last for a certain amount of time, i used them to farm stuff and bank it. i placed it on a hidden location and when someone killed me i didnt lost everything. |

Quote: 1.) How is the game's crafting system? What types of items can you craft? Can you customize items to any extent? Are there varying qualities of the same item? Does the actual process of crafting an item have any depth? Can you, as a player, stand out from the rest for having exceptional crafts? 2.) How is the game's gathering system? What kinds of things can you gather? Are there region-based resource nodes? Are there varying qualities of resource nodes? Are resources depletable? 3.) Is there farming? Can you grow crops, establish farms, etc.? 4.) Can you write books, letters, newspapers, etc.? 5.) Are there any art-related activities such as painting, playing music, acting, etc.?
Craft. Gathering. ok sure. Painting? Tasos is gonna kick down your RP Playerhouse door, rip your head off and shit down your neck son. Painting will do you no good. |

Originally posted by stealthbr Yes There is a game called Second Life that might fit you and Darthraiden perfectly. In that game you can trade, dance, make dresses and a lot of other things. it is almost as...erm...a second life. It can`t get more sandbox than that. |

Originally posted by stealthbr Understandable looking at your extensive wish list of features. The short answer is that no, there is no game with that kind of list, nor has there really ever been within the mmorpg gaming space. |
