As Minions i describe all Pets a Necro get > Standard Minions always out of Health > Minion dont regenerate HP but one which comes to late in game... > Minions AI is broken, stuck , not attacking etc etc > Minions are on a endless long cooldown after they died > Traits are chaotic designed and often useless > To many skills to few to use at same time > Weapons skills like Staff, axe and Scepter are boring. dagger could be fun without the endless running to mobs and and and
If you love pets come from another mmorpg and think necromancer in gw2 is could be fun then you better stay away frm this class for now...

The only problem is the AI. SOmetimes minions have slow reactions or dont use the direct path to the target. The rest you stated is BS... |

The best part is that the DoTs take about 30 secs to kill.
DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

Originally posted by mazut I play Necro and all of his concerns are very legitimate, I have gone threw pain staking methods to make sure my minions are not completely retarded every fight.
Shadow Fiend and Bone minions are bugged and sometimes will stop attacking all together only way to fix this is to kill them and summon new ones, this is a well known bug that Anet has yet to fix. |

Originally posted by Serenes Thats true, but most of the time they work good enough even to win in PvP. Pay attention where they are on the field and bring the target to them if they dont attack atm. You still can use them and the damage they do is prety high. |

The necro pet AI is indeed bad, but you arent supposed to have all of them out at the same time. If you want a pet class you should make a ranger instead, for necros pets are just some utility slots that are so-so and you rarely see any necro with a full pet collection past the first few zones. Necro is not a bad class with the right build, but it sure aint a real pet class. Hopefully will they better the AI but even if you would have same pet control as a ranger you would get hell everytime you enter Orr, because mobs will aggro on pets and a necro with pets take a lot larger space then just a player. Then again, one can wonder why exactly the undead in Orr aggroes on other undeads... |

PLUS ADD ON THAT U HAVE NOT ANY CONTROL OVER YOUR PETS... NOT EVENT BASIC CONTROLS LIKE ATTACK/FOLLOW PASSIVE/AGGRESIVE/DEFENSIVE.. ITS TOTTALY GENERIC AND I AGREE IT MUST BE THE WORST MINION CLASS NECRO/WARLOCK/CONJURER OF ALL THE MMOS I HAVE PLAYED.. EVEN NECROS FROM AOC WAS MUCH MUCH BETTER... AND EVEN LESS BUGGY THAN THIS...

I think the Necromancer class is viable but it's my least favourite class in GW2. The pets just aren't worth the bother, frankly, and with the 2-dagger build a Necro is durable enough but remind me more of an Assassin class that uses blade poisons and DOT abilities. The Necro pets in GW2 don't strike me as being Necromancer-like pets, and instead just seem to resemble demonic beings summoned out of thin air, any time, any where. They certainly don't fit the standard modus operandi of Necromancers, namely minions being created from dead bodies. In fact, the more I think about it, they might as well have called the class a Summoner rather than a Necromancer. The class just doesn't seem like a Necromancer to me, which is probably why I don't play it much. :( I really liked the Necro in GW1 though and think they should have gone along similar lines to that, instead of the way they did. |

I'm kind of disappointed with pets as a whole in GW2. They are cool but even on my ranger they die way to quick at the first sign of a real challenge.

You can have some fun if you don't play it like a necro. I.e. leave the pets away and don't expect to raise any corpses, spread diseases, curses, banish, fear - or do any other necro-like stuff for that matter. Rather go for some melee-assassin-vampire (with the vampire aspect being laughable due to broken or badly scaling traits). ANet fails so bad on this once GW signature class, it's unbelieveable. |

I enjoy my necro, even with the scepter which has some cool status effects. I think people need to start necro with the understanding that their pets aren't too great. Also some weapons are very situational, which can add to the frustration some feel with this class. The staff is really bad single target dps and it's more about aoe's and combo fields. Some people don't have the patience for the scepter as it's more about status effects/dots than pure dps. I don't care for the axe as it doesn't do much of anything very well (status effects or dps).
My most frustrating issue with the necro are the horrible healing abilities they get. Also their siphon life type abilities are weak.
I started this post thinking that I really like my necro but when I start listing things I don't care for I do tend to agree that it has some issues that need to be looked at asap. |

While I do agree a Nerco is nothing like what it was in gw1, it is still an incredible profession. Its very hard to kill and its useful to a group with buff/debuffs. Tank/support. Mesmer is the pet class and closer to what the necro was in gw1.
As far as pve goes all the weapons do okay. Also gw2 is all about weapon swaping, so I think people have to overcome the idea of using only one weapon all the time, everytime. Axe/focus is very nice for stacking vul. Staff is a fine choice in ove since you almost always fight more than one mob. Dag/dag is okay, but comes at the cost of taking more damage as all melee types. scep/ is not that bad either. I wouldn't want to use any of them exclusively though.
Playing a nerco you aren't going to die much, but you aren't going to do great dps. Play to its strengths and you will do well. |

Necromancer is a great class and is my fav. I don't use the pets so the ai is a non issue for me. I went with a power and condition hybrid build, 10/10/0/20/30 that I call Jekyl & Hydromancer.

Originally posted by Volgore Most of these issues reek of the dreaded PvP balance issues. I really don't even know why they bothered to put fear in the game as weak as it is. I wish they would have split PvP and PvE ability effects, I think both camps would be much happier. Necro is historically a god like class in the MMO's I've played it in (at least it was in EQ). GW2 is so PvP focused that they had to scrap most of the fun abilities or make them so GD weak they are pointless. |

The length of fear is indeed a disappointment and that is why it is mainly used as an interrupt.
