I tried everything I could to help MO and support it but they really are their own worst enemy and deserve the death the game will see. |

Originally posted by Genadi I'm just wondering why this wasn't mentioned to the stockholders when they had their announcement last week. I mean, Henrick didn't mention this, nor the donations, both of which would seem to be rather important events...
My theory (and it is purely that) is that the donations did not go as well as expected and this F2P was not planned or at least not planned to have happened so fast. Why else would it have been done with no publicity at all? The trailer looks like it was spliced together in 20 minutes.. and the download server has struggled for bandwidth. Many accounts that were reactivated from former players have been locked at 60 skill points even though they shouldn't be. It all points to a rushed decision and poor testing.
We will see how this turns out. As others have said, once people actually experience the game and company they will be better positioned to make a decision. These same folks said the same things when the game started it's free trial and that's pretty much all this amounts to, just taking away the 14 day limit and a few other minor tweaks. I personally don't think the results will be much different than the trial, but I guess we will see in a few months.
"I should point out that no other company has shipped out a beta on a disc before this." - Official Mortal Online Lead Community Moderator Starvault's reponse to criticism related to having a handful of players as the official "test" team for a supposed MMO: "We've just have another 10ish folk kind enough to voulenteer added tot the test team" (SIC) This explains much about the state of the game :-) |

They would have to pay me alot of money to play this game, imo, one of the worst games i have ever bought and played.

Originally posted by Slapshot1188 Interesting theory Slappy. But it´s just that. I do think they had planned this for a while now. It´s been up for discussion on the forums as well. But knowing SV, ofc there would be some road bumps in the begining like the CDN not working (it is now though and people are downloading without any issues). They said the donation were going better then excpected, but they are still just that. Donation. People that freely donate money to help SV getting MO to where it needs to be. And I could be wrong, but wasn´t the free trial capped at 600 skillpoints? Now you can have all 1100 skillpoints, but the skills are capped at 60. That´s ALOT better then the free trial. And makes you able to try almost every aspect of the game b4 you maybe turn your account into a primary account. And people say you can´t compete in PVP with skills locked at 60. But you can. Alot comes down to skill in MO. But if two players that are exqually good meet. And one is capped at 60. Ofc the better one will win. But you won´t be useless, or unable to compete with 60 cap. Either way, I think it´s a good move by SV. What the game needs most to thrive is a large population. And with this F2P model, there sure will be more faces in Nave. Some will hate it, especially those that come from themepark MMOs, and the full loot aspect of the game will hit alot of those peeps hard. But some will love it for the same reason. And now people won´t have to loose any money testing at least. So really, it´s a win-win for every1.

They could offer to pay me to play it and I still doubt I would have any interest.

Free to NOT play. They have yet to even fix basic visual bugs likes horses hovering.

This sounds suspiciously like free players will get into the game, get all their stuff stolen, and then chain killed, all while being stuck in a wall or while their attacker is invisible. Join the League For Gamers. |

Thread filled with hate and flaming - everything that MO stands for.
The question about this extended trial is - how would anyone neutral towards the game enjoy the unplayable state the game is in, which even made some old fans leave for DF2? |

Originally posted by TweFoju Personally I think it was nicely done and to the point. And if you compare it to for instance AVs trailers it beats the hell outa them. AV might have a gr8 game o their hands, but they can´t make trailers even if their life depended on it. So I think SV did fine, and the music is awesome.
Edit. Ofc it can´t hold in comparison to big companies trailers like Blizzard etc. They took some ingame footage, and showed off some aspects of the game. Nothing more, nothing less. |

Tried it, just a horrible example of a sandbox. Just cannot support such a clueless development staff.

Originally posted by Lahuzer Go try it and find out for yourself. I am surprised the game is still available. Most people who subbed left the game, pretty good indication my analysis is spot on. Really irks me when people play sandbox games that are this bad and then associate that with what a sandbox is. |

Originally posted by Ozmodan Ohh, rly? I´m a old player and I´m still subbed, and so are many others that I know ingame, so there goes that analyze... Everything that is in this trailer for instance are ingame, and are sandbox elements, and are working. SO still don´t get what SO bad with the game. Sure it has bugs etc. But the actuall gameplay is in my eyes unique for a MMO. I thank god that sandbox games like MO, Xsyon, DF:UW etc are getting some attention now. And I hope more peeps test these games, and knows that a broken sandbox beats a top notch themepark any day. ;) |

I tried the trial some time ago and it was pretty bad. I see no reason to play for free in a game I'd never want to pay for.
