I've found some interesting comparisons between the "big three" (Hero, RC, Multiverse), but I haven't found much in terms of features comparisons or, more importantly, stability.
Stability, to me, means three things.
I'm relatively certain that HeroCloud meets criteria of 1 and 2, but the FPS demo had me worried, since the client controls the HP and is resposible for sending hit data to the server. I understand that's likely how an FPS would need to operate to maintain smooth control, and this only applies to FPS-type games... If so, great! But, I don't understand how you could protect against most hacks that way without expensive third party tools, like PunkBuster. Did SW:TOR use third party tool to protect against hacks such as DLL injection, or is the engine capable of handling this on its own?
I used RealmCrafter before the "Professional" release some years ago. I see that the professional release isn't even stable yet, and the standard release was entirely broken. The community got together to play on a standard server, and everything was broken, even chat didn't work part of the time.
MultiverseMMO must have some stability if it was to be considered for the FireFly MMO project, but I've heard that there were varied results from several clients, lot's of crashing, etc.
Anyway, I'd immediately go for HeroCloud if it wasn't for the 3DS Max and Maya requirement. That's far too much money. I'd be equally happy to hear of someone using a converter for DeleD or Blender.
Thank you very much for your time,
