They could add all the UI bars they want for free and unlock all the character slots, and bank slots for free and I wouldn't come back.. I hated PvP in SWTOR.. I hated the linear level path we're force to follow.. Even Dorothy had more options following the yellow brick road then I did in playing Star Wars.. The game just sucked, and no amount of freebie stuff is going to change it.. SWTOR is like a "Free 2 Swim" in a pirahna infested lake.. I don't care how free you make it, I'm not swimming in that lake.. PERIOD.. lol

Originally posted by Crazy_Stick I really cant see why they would want to make money.. Aslong as they dont eat anything more than rise and drink some water now and then. I think its very selfish of EA and Bioware to want money for their work.
(oh btw, tried the f2p version for a week, and it was not for me so now Im a happy sub. I know many have done the same and I see new ones do it every day. Good move guys, and thx for a good game) :) |

Basically, EA determined that SWTOR didn't have quite the excitment that it was supposed to have, so they gave a few more grains of sand.
This might appease some players, but EA continues to miss the mark. Players didn't like the game as it was. A mass of gamers wanted something beyond a WoW clone. Or a game better than WoW.
All EA had to do is put in unique content that no other game has, ie Star Wars'y in this game, and they will have paying customers. Space combat, gambling (without RL money lol), card games, racing ...
Keep putting stuff in the game with the same drivel .. more instanced PVE, PVP, space rails, and watch customers disappear!
It's a failed F2P launch if they have to tweak the game to try to maximize revenues after the fact. EA didn't listen to their customers from the start, and this olive branch will go mostly unnoticed.
EA listening to their customers???? no they are feeling the size of their wallets; they don't give a shit about anyone in particular. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

The limited quickslot bars did not matter to me as much as purchasing more char slots. Until they allow more char slots I still can not play the game at all. I want my chars to matter in the Legacy system, so have no intentions on creating multiple accounts. At least now when and if they make more char slots purchaseable I will not need to buy more quickslot bars too which I would have done, and now saved some CC. If they listened to the players they would have made a true epic mmorpg instead of the console rpg version of KOTOR 4. That game died soon as they decided to go the route they did. They should have made a SWG2 with better game mechanics. Because even if you hated or loved SWG, many agree that SWG had some great open worlds, crafting, player housing, and some pretty good space combat. Probably would have done much better. |

For starters it wouldnt be so bad, but on higher levels there might be problems if your pace is not snails one. |

Originally posted by tiefighter25 I want to answer typical, but I have to admit that I don't have enough data to justify that view. Is the 'unmentionable metric' XFire? If so I'm guessing your numbers are not Sunday to Sunday but rather Thursday to Thursday--which happens to be peak after FTP to last Thursday. Only one Sunday on XFire falls within FTP period, unless I'm misunderstanding the data, and that Sunday shows better than 100% upswing from the previous Sunday which was of course before FTP launch. My personal sense is that so far FTP has benefitted the game in terms of population very well. Playing on two servers, Harbinger (likely most populated server) and Dalborra (Asia Pac server), I've seen significant to steady improvement in population--not just Fleet numbers but all zone numbers. Nonetheless, I'm sure that the negative feedback regarding some of the FTP restrictions has had an adverse impact on retention as well as enticing more players. For good reason in my view cause some of the restrictions are simply oppressing or at very least dubious. So this recent decision to ameliorate some of the negatives of the FTP system are for good reason regardless of greed or good will. Still, I'd like to see artifact quality and credit cap restrictions changed as well. For the record, I'm a subscriber with no intention of unsubscribing in the near future. |

Originally posted by rawfox Awesome find. An experience boost which lets you kill more stuff to level, none of which helps your already capped credit value or inventory problems.
So the "F2P" player continues to get nothing at the expense of credit ceilings. They just waste time with no gain while they level without boosts. Or they spend real money. Great game.
I'd rather play Aion F2P, they don't restrict inventory, bank deposits, or currency. They also don't restrict content, which is another story .. but it goes into what others say about "SWTOR should have gone the Truly F2P model of NCSoft". Want a nice understanding of life? We can only hope for more Christmas treasures, lets see!
BTW, SWTOR was a better game than TSW, largely due to the games combat animations and SWTOR's coreographed combat. TSW can't touch that :P Both games stunk ..but TSW stunk worse :-) Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

Originally posted by Kickaxe FTP Nov 15th. Sunday post FTP Nov 18th comparison to Sunday November 25th shows a 12% decline on that certain metric. Although I'm guessing as FTP accounts hit post level 20 and aren't buying UI unlocks (and presumabling stopping) adds to Bioware's new stance on UI restrictions. |

I must say though the ui restrictions was a singularly poor decision on their part. They could have gone about trying to get people to buy things from the shop in way better ways but it is done and I'm hoping not too much damage has resulted. They are people who love the story you see it in the chat , how many are happy to come back and play but these type of poor decisions will drive people away.

Originally posted by tiefighter25 Sorry, you're right on days. Somehow I was looking at an October calendar. So, 12% is measuring peak after FTP launch and the most recent data. Sunday 18 to Sunday 25. I still want to answer typical to the question does this seem high or low. I'm suggesting that this recent decision needn't be read as an action of desperation, but rather one of practicality. I certainly think that they should continue to remove some of these overbearing type restrictions. |
