Originally posted by Gaia_Hunter I think you read my post incorrectly. I'm not saying yay for the ascended items. Or nay for that matter. I just understand they're another type of content. I love all the things in GW2 considered side parts. Like jumping puzzles. The new enemy intersts me greatly because of how the ascension item works with them. If anyone remembers GW, it was generally the same concept with the dreaded Mursaat. |

Originally posted by FrodoFragins Exotics and Legendaries had the same stats. Exotics were easy to get even for casual people like me. I was ready to get a set of armor and weapons before this patch. I would have been competitive in WvW and in PvE content. Now, looking at the massive grind for ascended items (this is important, please read on the time it will take to get these, it is very long) I will always be worse than people with more time to burn. This wasn't the case before this patch. Skill was the most important thing. There was no "gear edge" that put people over the top because exotics were so easy to get. There you go. I can't be competitive anymore after this patch and with future ascended weapons getting released. I don't care if they lied or not. I don't care if they destroyed their own philosophy or simply changed it. That is meaningless to me. What is meaningful is that I was on par with people with lots of time to burn, now I am not and never will be again. And before someone says it's a small stat increase... it isn't. GW2DB was updated. Ascended items are a huge increase in total when they are all finally available. Infusions push the gap even further. I wasn't a second class citizen in this game at launch. Now, I am. It's just how things played out. It's not the worst thing an MMO has done. But it does kinda suck because I did like the game and was happy with the old system. Now, it's just like every other themepark. Gear useless after 3 months... grind away or be at a severe disadvantage. Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure. |

Here is one thread complaining about gear grind in GW2. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/363676/page/1 I'll dig the other. Edit: Can't find the other when people realized that at level 80 the items weren't all equal in stats. I remember the user "Nadia" being quite invested in that one, so if you have a link/memory I would appreciate. Currently playing: GW2 |

Uh, they were. Maybe you missed it. Pre-release, legendaries had better stats than exotics - you can still see their better stats on some of the GW2 database sites. The outcry was loud enough that ANet changed it, and released with legendaries having identical stats just different skins. |

Originally posted by NaughtyP Just because you can pull them out of the GW2.dat file does not mean they will be used. This is the problem with sites such as GW2DDB - they don't bother to research enough to find out.
It is a small increase - get over it.
If you are leaving the game then, can I have your stuff? |

Originally posted by botrytis I used to champion GW2 like many others because it did do many things well, but I'm not a fool. When a game makes a bad change, I'll say it and move on. At the very least I have my money, a bit of self-respect, and my gear (because it's soulbound). Enjoy running on thy treadmill my hamster friend. Enter a whole new realm of challenge and adventure. |
