World Alpha is a next generation MMORTS currently in development. It's a browser based title with big time MMO features. We caught up with Producer & Game Designer Michael Koehler to find out more about World Alpha. Read on!

MMORPG: Let’s start with the obvious.  Can you give our readers an overview of WorldAlpha and what it’s all about?

Michael Koehler:  WorldAlpha is a MMORTS that focuses in on social strategy. In this persistent world, players will be working together to decide what society they are going to form, as no one player will be able to do it all. Some will be businessmen, others military and political leaders. They will work together, and use social strategy to ultimately decide the fate of WorldAlpha. WorldAlpha is in the late stages of development, with the first closed Beta scheduled for November 22nd.

I think this game is going to be awesome. It's about time someone made a game where you actually have to pay attention a little. I like games with depth as  I know many others do, grindcore works for some but after a while the cookie-cutter kinda gets dull. 

My respect to the ambitious developers and I'll see you at launch!

I agree we need some hype train.  We are doing our best.  We have over 8,500 signed up to be beta testers, so it is coming along.

In regards to Monopoly Online, I think there definitely would be legal issues, if I attempted to use something as blantant as Monopoly in the name.  So, WorldAlpha it is! :)

Yes, you will be able to create countries.  You'll need to get Country Formation papers, and then pick an appropriate spot on the map to create your country and first city.

I can honestly say this is probably one of the most unique MMORTS games I have seen in a while, perhaps because I dont get around much. The one thing I would like to ask is how can I get invovled with the Worldalpha community? Do you have a forum site or chat system of some kind I can use to get more involved?

I also love how you're willing to take input from your players and work towards getting a stronger community "created" game in the sense that its not all about how YOU want to game but how your players would like the game to be shaped!
