I liked MMOs better when gamers didn't play them, and just geeks did. |

Hey come on now, they only gave themselves 12 hours to do something that should have taken 4 tops. Cut them some slack. It's not like MMOs can patch while you are still playing nowadays *coughGW2coughcough*.

It seems at every crucial point the game ever had, their website was not functioning properly. This is no exception. Same old, same old. http://www.swtor.com/free

Originally posted by negativf4kk I'm sorry, but you're either a hater, or an idiot. While no MMO launch is perfect, SWTOR was far....FAAAAAAR from the 'worst ever'. Look at WoW, only MOP had a decent release. Hell, back in classic major patches alone would knock the servers down for a week. Playing |

Guys, you have to remember how few people there are actually still left working on this game. Most MMOs don't take 12-16 hours to patch, however, most MMO's have more then 5 or 6 people working on them also.

Originally posted by negativf4kk This guy nailed it btw. I bought AO the first day and couldn't actually play the game till weeks later. You probably shouldn't make absolute statements like 'ever' when you have virtually no experience (from what I can tell) with MMO launches. Not to be overly rude but you sound like you are parroting tag-lines from post launch forums. SWTOR wasn't even in my top 5 worst launches ever (and I haven't played nearly every game at launch). |

To be expected with any major patch. Just hope performance is better than it used to be. Anyone still playing able to tell me if game is performing better? I used to get some major lag spikes and drops in fps in major cities and especially on space stations. Tempted to go back and check out this so-called "F2P" Mainly just yearning for some Star Wars. |

Guild elocation program ton of rubish. Queque timer was broker or they borrowed it from MIB headqueters. Disconects without timeout. etc .... etc... My worst experience. If anything launching like that i will want my money back.

It also happened with Aion, when i was playing as P2P the gameplay was higher quality, and after the F2P transition i played again and it feels a bit clunky (just a bit but i notice the difference) Some companies do take as an offence when their mmo has to go F2P.... they kind of act like, Oh my game is going f2p, then they will not get the quality of a subscription mmo.

SWTOR was smooth sailing for me. But you won't see me try to make it look as if my personal experince is some universal fact. It is not what you say but how you say it. |

Is this the thread where a bunch of people point out that Tor has usually gone over estimated downtimes on patch day and then a bunch of other people point out that Vanilla WoW was down for decades on patch day eight years ago and caused the stock market to crash and the sun to implode?

Sadly performance is totally random atm. The memory leak is a huge problem that BW can state or solve so after 2 hours of play if you have less than 16GB RAM the game is like a cancer for your system.
Lag is random for players, you can run smooth one day and can't even walk other with less people on screen.
Of course there is always a dude who doesn't have any problems and say is your fault... Sadly must be fault of the 90% of the people who have lag issues, random disconections and insane lag spikes. |

From their twitter feed it says they have no, 'ETA', on when the servers will be up. They also haven't bothered to update the launcher with this info. Like the OP says this is common practice with SWTOR, although usually they will have a message on the launcher. It'd almost forgot this about this usual practice, that was a fun reminder :P

i agree about the memory leak problem as there is about 20 different posts about it with tons of replies on the OF and bioware ignores it which pisses me off also. I have 8 gigs of ram and every two hours or so on the dot the game crashes to desktop and i have to restart everything which is annoying as hell. I have an active sub and try not to bitch much about the game but silence speaks volumes about how this day is going to end up. They need to learn to communicate much better period as they lack any communication with their community just like mythic does with theirs for months when warhammer was dying. I guess EA customer support isnt trained properly or something.
