For me the biggest problem with GW2 was the way my champ moved, feeled like i had to force it in the direction i wanted him to go, did love the scenary and that gear is equal in PVP, For pve, i do love the gear grind , never realy liked lvling in any game :) , i do need the "carrot" for pve , without it , just feels like im wasting time Me and a friend tryed SWTOR when it came out , after around 3 hours i realised that we barly had talked durring the perriod, unstalled instantly.
Anyway, im alitle burned out on mmos atm, games i play now: chivalry medieval warfare, just a awsome game League of legends mostly ARAM and 5v5 Team ranked Natural Selection 2, ( loong time since i have had so much fun in a game, realy recommend it) Borderlands 2, awsome game Ocr must die 2 I do logg in to wow from time to time , mostly to play the auction house, lvling my warrior very very slowly, but must say i am realy positivly supprised for this expension.

Originally posted by RefMinor It's not batining when there are plenty of people on this site who have said over and over that GW2 sucks and/or it's totally lacking in features they want. They have made their opinions perfectly clear. So, the OP is specifically asking them (or anyone who feels the same way) what game(s) they think are better than GW2 and why. That's a perfectly legit question. It would be no different than someone asking GW2 "fanboys" what they like about GW2 so much and why they think it's a superior game.
I find it amusing that so many people have attacked the OP for baiting but won't say why they think games they like are better than GW2. |

Originally posted by NBlitz I highly doubt that. In fact, I'm surprised we haven't really seen a "what do you fanboys like about GW2 so much?" thread yet.
If you think the mods are being unfair because they didn't mod this but you think they would mod the opposite, try it and see what happens. Then you can be peeved all you want if your prediction is correct. |

Wouldn't call myself hater as I've bought gw2, didn't really liked the pvp too much, leveling is fun, but I stopped playing it completely as I am more of PvP guy and game that I play is more fun for me. That game is Starcraft 2, to play it competetively is simply better than gw2, as sc2 is real esports game, starcraft has better community than any game period. And yeah game is hard and skillcap is non existant, watching what top players can do will leave you speechless atleast few times a tournament.

I'm about to go on a gaming hiatus. Just burned out right now. Was playing LOTRO heavily for the past couple of months. Also, checked out briefly Rift and DDO. (Both of which were pretty good.) During the last year I also tried TSW and SWTOR. Going to take a month off and am thinking about trying out Fallout 3 when I decide to start playing again. Now to answer your real question and get to the reason you made this this post. I played GW2 during two of the BWE's and a stress test. I was really hoping this would be a great game. After the first BWE I was very pleased. During the second one, I barely played. During the last one, which I think was a stress test maybe, I played for about 5 minutes then cancelled my preorder. I was strongly considering buying it after release because it was getting such great reviews I thought I must have been crazy. But in my research, I was really turned off by all of the reports of poor account security, botting, hacking, cheating, and poor graphics engine optimization. Also, I was beginning to read a lot of posts by people saying essentially what I felt, that there just isn't that much to this game. So I am now comfortable with my decision to pass on this title. To me, it feels more like an Xbox game than a computer MMO. To my taste, every title I listed in this post is superior to GW2. But gaming is all about personal preference, MMO's are not one size fits all. I'm glad you are enjoying GW2 so much, but you have to realize subjectively its not for everyone, and objectively, it just didn't turn out to be the next big thing and will probably settle right around these other titles as just another MMO. |

Modern definition of "hater" is disliking something that person likes, or in this case, simply burning out on a game and running out of stuff to do makes you a hater. Not the correct definition but whatever. Waiting for end game content for GW2 and I'll be back. For those that say, "GW2 isn't that kind of game though!" I'd rewatch the interview with the dev, where it's pretty clear they're working on more traditional end game content including a new dungeon and new gear sets. Sounds like a step in the right direction to me, but GW2 isn't going to be the powerhouse of the industry until it sees a major content update, we'll talk then. As of right now I'm not playing any MMO really. Been beta testing a couple upcommers and messing with the Skyrim Hearthfire update that I hadn't played with yet. http://thewordiz.wordpress.com/ |

I find GW2 fun but very shallow. The combat lacks any real depth as do the dungeons. Even PvP has a great many issues. Honestly the game is the best casual mmo there is. But for someone looking for long term time investment and substance it just doesn't hold up. You don't use content to keep players playing. You use designed systems to keep things fresh and exciting. Content merely amplifies these systems. In my opinion GW2 is barely even an mmo. Just because it has wheels and a windshield doesn't make it a car. Barely any player interaction, no community, crap economy, etc. What they have in the game is incredibly top notch, however. ![]() |

Originally posted by kevjards maybe I should amend my title. I am getting alot of responses by people that are admittedly not haters, but still don't play GW2. I definately DO NOT want to offend those people, and they've provided alot of quality replies.
Curiously, i've noticed two things so far in this thread. 1: There hasn't been a single occurance of a GW2 player calling someone else's game down. I was under the impression that the GW2 community was the worst out there, and couldn't stand anyone suggesting that other games might be preferred. 2: I've noticed that some people who have shared with us gems like "worst game ever!" and "absolute fail, Anet should close the doors permamently" are remaining particularly silent, or disputing my reasons to post. Please note, this does not imply that everyone who disputes my post, is going to suggest GW2 is "epic fail"
My extended thanks to those people that have chosen to share what games they prefer over GW2. EDIT: I've changed the title because there are some people taking part that shouldn't be grouped in with "haters" For THOSE people, i will change my title. They deserve better. All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick. |

In all honesty, guild wars 2 is a mess. The pvp is absolutely horrible, mind numbing boringness running around doing "different" things. Not only that but the pve? yeah exactly the pve? any sense of the word they desecrated and abolished it untill well original pve that the mmo'ers love, became some stupid, rediculous, rubbish pvpanised pve. So exactly, there are WAY to many games to name that are better then guild wars 2, of the top of your head atleast. |

I'm forever bemused by the extreme defensiveness common to many GW2 defenders, never have seen anything quite like it. Some defensiveness among fans of most anything is common, but just not anywhere near to the level seen from GW2 fans in these parts. That aside, I've been an occasional critic of GW2, I suppose around here that makes me a 'hater' even though mostly my expectations were low to begin with and, to my surprise, not even those were met. Meh, I bought it anyway, silly friends talked me into it so we could play together and then they ended up bored and quiting before level 10. Whatever, maybe it'll eventually improve to the point where it's worth some attention rather than, to me, being something I log into occasionally and quickly get bored of -- who knows? I'm currently subbed to WoW, though I haven't logged in for weeks and haven't spent more than an hour or two playing since around the time Cata dropped. I'm also at the start of one of my quarterly tries to see what it is in Eve that gets so many people hot and bothered. Might take this time but I've been doing a few months of Eve a few times a year for a few years in Eve and have yet to really get into it. Don't really know why I'm compelled to give it another try so often, but for some reason I am. Beyond that I've mostly been playing single player stuff, replaying old Sam and Max games on the PC, getting around to Uncharted 1/2 (honestly, having finished 1 and being halfway through 2 I can't for the life of me figure out why these games were rated so high) on the PS3, and playing Borderlands on the Xbox. Might resub to Rift just to see what the expac brings, have to see. |

Originally posted by eyelolled I can't help thin, your post drips with vitriol but still, the gist of the post is good. I've been playing Aion, LOTRO and Tera. And bit of Vanguard. I actually like GW2 but I don't like how the events repeat ad nauseum. Other than that I prefer longer leveling arcs and as I tend to like to wander and kill monsters I've found that I am usually in places (in gw2) much higher than I should be. Somehow I just don't "get" GW2 even though I understand what it's doing and why it's doing it. I think, in the end, I just prefer games that are grind games. Also games that have pvp conquests that affect the greater populace (not counting lotro in that). One of the reasons I loved Lineage 2. Pride in ownership. GW2 is a fine game but one that I will just visit from time to time. |

Dont hate GW2 at all some of my best friends are lovin it , i tried it, and it doesnt grab , as i posted before ...Way to easy of a game .. Zero thot involved in Character progression , Gear is just handed to you, no feeling of accomplishment at all (and dont ohh lookie i jumped all the way up this Hill) ...That isnt an accomplishment they are mindless time sinks with little to no creativity...
Im playing AO , i like the constant challenges of Finding Gear ,Weapon Dock , and Implants ,and jugglin the 50+ attributes and Skills to squeeze into said equipment.. i enjoy the original enviromentr that funcom created (not the same same ole that we see in every AAA like GW2) I enjoy being able to increase the difficulties (challenge myself)of missions or go somewhere to hunt i will likley die a horrible death..(not be scaled to every dam thng i come across..such a bad design)
I enjoy the combat where i have to think to survive .. not mindlessbuttonmashingfacerollinmacrobleccccccchhhh you get it..
I my distase is more for what GW2 is not the game itself .. what it represents as imo is everything glaringly wrong with the direction Devs are takin with what they call MMOs these days..
anyhow .... i digress .. got some missions to run .. need to get into some implants so can learn a new heal.. |

Even though you changed topic title in your posts you're still way too defensive. Anyway I am a person that bought GW 2, stopped playing and not going to go back since I didn't liked the game. I will tell you what I do play now.
List of mmorpg's I play: - nothing and there is very small chance that there will be any mmorpg for me in foresable future judging from industry trends. Maybe ArcheAge if western publisher will offer some separate subscription only servers separate from freemium / f2p ones. No publisher did that kind of thing till today (well SOE with EQ2 did in past before they went full freemium but in half-assed manner) so my hopes are very small. ----------------------------- List of single and multiplayer games: - The Witcher 2 - Warcraft 3 (yes that 10 year old game). - Obvilion total conversion mod Nehrim - Arcanum - Battlefield 3 (rarely and vanilla version, I don't own any DLC's) - Fallen Enchantress - Panzer General
Above list mean game that I played at least once in last month. Obviously some of them I haven't played for some time. Like Panzer General I haven't played for ~2 weeks and I haven't played Battlefield for 3 weeks, but I consider playing them a bit soon again.
Have few more games lined up I don't buy because I would not have time to play. There are few releasing in next year I am interested. None of them are mmorpg's though. Like I said gameplay and business model wise mmoprg industry don't want to deliver mmorpg that I would like. |

Playing TSW, working my way through Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition (bought it yesterday - so much fun), trying to reach paragon 100 on my barbarian in d3 (almost there few more levels), and playing diablo 2 on LAN with friends!
GW2 was litterally the worst MMORPG I have played couldnt get into it at all. Waiting for Lineage Eternal, Arche Age, and War Z (kinda im in alpha/beta but its got ALOT of work to do to be a polished version of Day Z). Spiritsever - AR/Ele - The Secret World Ashmaker - Ranger < Prophets > - Age of Conan - #1 in Kills Sweety - Sorceress < Infinite Darkeness > - SWTOR - 2.6K PvP Rating ??? - Pilot - ??? - EVE Symir - Swordmaster - Warhammer - RR100 Dreadnaught - Rogue - Rift |
