Anyway, the question remains what "other" reasons are there for missing ships and warhulks? "there are many reasons to put ships and warhulks etc on hold at launch. One of them is what AV claim, but there are also reasons they don't mention that in itself is a good enough reason alone" |

Originally posted by Hancakes Nah dude, no joke. The rafts and whatnot that are in the game early have acid resistant hulls and carry a neutralizing agent that as you sail will be released slowly to counteract the acid. It's science in action. Also, there are mermaids that live below the acidic surface that as you cleanse the seas will rise up and you can capture one to be the figurehead on the prow of your boats. |

Originally posted by Hancakes The coating is player manufactured via a special form of weightlifting, the clean and jerk. It takes 20 or more players to make a hull resistant. There is a special skill involving assisting a player to get it to work more quickly. This also creates a bond between two or more players that will be used more further on down the road with other ventures. As far as fishing goes, the seamen will take care of that. |

Originally posted by Hancakes I would agree, other than the fact its a new game, all new coding, etc. Sure if it was an expansion using the same coding...that wouldl make sense, but its all new and built from the ground up. Incognito |

Originally posted by afhn2110 Its based on the same engine, similar mechanics and was planned to be an expansion. The fact still remains it will have less features than the game its replacing. |

Originally posted by Hancakes There is never a shortage of seamen. They replenish themselves daily, from the dregs of society * and scrotums* to be obvious.
Alright back on topic....nothing wrong with a developer having a release date, then realizing something is imbalanced and deciding to delay said part of the game. It's a fairly small company that has done \the best they could and did in fact hold ten thousand subs from what I have read. If it doesn't work out then it will die off. No worries. |

Originally posted by Hancakes No one will be building these items for months. You're in SBA and you still think this is a problem? Did you not play EU1 release? Many guilds rushed to build these items and it still took them months, people won't be rushing near as much now. The land siege and the larger ships were never used in DF1 except by people who were ridiculously rich months into the game. Removing them from the game until they're reworked is a far better option than not having them at all. When features turn out to be crap it's best to remove them and rework them rather than slowly tweak them, that's been proven in the short history of MMO's and still goes on today(ie. FFXIV)

The problem is the pace in which AV has a history of patching the game.
There is a good chance it will be years and by then people will be pissed that currently are not.
I think it is lame to take something out and promise to add it back in. Sounds like every year of EA sports Madden football. |
