I love the WvW theme tune. And it's great running about hearing the GW1 tracks as well. They make it feel like Guild Wars.

Music in MMO is not meant to be very memorable. It's supposed to be part of atmosphere/experience. There are tons of very catchy songs in jRPGs as people mentioned... but note that you don't play those RPGs for years... If music in MMO was more than something nice in the background, it could become pretty annoying quickly and after that you turn on your winamp. This was typical in WoW... You couldn't listen to dungeon music for very long (not mentioning it was arguably very bad). That being said, I like GW2 music very much. It may not be the best epic music, but it just fits the world perfectly for me. |

Befroe I first logged in, I had heard some saying the music was "amazing". When I did log in I was underwhelmed, even irratated by the music for a few days. After about a week I really started to dig it. By the time I left, I felt that it was ok.

these kind of posts crack me up. do people actually care wether you or someone else like the music?? have we become a world that is so self centered that we Have to post positive or negative things?? heres an idea, play the game, listen to the music,or don't play and wish you hadn't heard the music, but seriously who cares either way

Music tastes are matters of opinion, and my opinion is that GW2 music is very well done. If in 1982 we played with the current mentality, we would have burned down all the pac man games since the red ghost was clearly OP. Instead we just got better at the game. |

There are some bad things in GW2, but why is there at least one new thread every day on this forums, that critizises this game in a very unjustified way? Bad graphics, antisocial, no pvp, pay to win, boring combat and now bad music. It is rediculous. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. |

While I believe the GW2 music is good, I will agree its not the most memorable. That has to definately go to Everquest. I wish I could find my old collectors edition cd soundtrack for EQ2 which is great but EQ1 still is the best.

GW2 has the same composer as GW1 - hence there is a link between the music. Jeremy Soule is the composer and has done the music for: GW1, GW2, Icewind Dale: Heart of WInter, and many many others - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeremy_Soule
I find the music wonderful and nice that in certain areas it hearkens back to GW1. |

I have the music volume set to about half, or less, of what the other game volumes are. It makes for good filler, but I don't really pay much attention to it.
Pretty much the same for me with any game. |

Again, op ? we doing this again, its not even been 2 months, and after having your point totally anihilated in the previous thread you post exactly the same one ?, do you have a personal vendetta against Guild Wars 2 or Jeremy Soule ?
As for a direct answer, again NO, you are wrong, GW2 music is better than 99% of all other game music, why ? because its Jeremy Soule who composed it, end of story, ...
When it needs to be forgettable it is, when it doesn't it isn't, your music tastes are yours, leave the rest of the world to enjoy their own music tastes please. |

Ya I thought this was that other older thread. I added him to my block list. He's kinda odd redoing the same thread again. And. Yes Mr. Soule's backgournd music is very backgroundy. But the main themes are quality.

Why necro a dead thread? The difference is that was before Guild Wars 2 was out and this is now after Guild Wars 2 is out. After every one has experienced the game with out the new game smell to hinder their opinions. Having a chance to play the game with the music going instead of sitting down and listening to it by itself. Also if I did have a vendetta against Jeremy Soule. Why do I enjoy his work on the Guild Wars 1 track that was included in Guild Wars 2 and not his new Guild Wars 2 stuff? Your conclusion jumping is lacking in the logic department. |

Have to say I don't really pay much attention to music in MMOs. I usually have my Windows Media Player going and the music turned off. The only game I remember much music from was EverQueset. Mostly the loading screen when first logging in which was pretty damn good I thought. The best I've heard though, maybe not for quality but for other reasons, was the Kelethin music. I swear there is not a better sound than hearing that come on when you're lost wandering around Greater Faydark.

GW2 music is kind of hu-hum. I am sitting here trying to think of one song, and I can't. I even leave the music on while I play ..
I guess the GW2 music composers knew how to arrange notes in a way not to sound sour, they are "booksmart". But the music completely lacks memorable and/or compassionate themes that might stimulate emotions and leave a lasting memory.
Maybe it's just me. As for recent releases, SWTOR has far superior music (game is meh tho) compared to GW2. Jazzy, futuristic, classical, .. not the music everyone knows the movies either .. the new stuff.
WoW has amazing music as well. Powerful fantasy themes. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |
