Sure, Star Wars The Old Republic has problems. It had problems when it was released, and it still has problems to this day. It did carry to the genre a great story telling mechanism, as well as a defined graphics standard (stuff gets to full resolution when you get close, instead of blurry). It also carried with it a monster of a soundtrack package.
Yes It did. The Music of Star Wars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6OFD-mYylJo 5.5 hours of ORIGINAL music in SWTOR + KOTOR + Original John Williams.
Regardless of how I feel for this game in it's current state, or how anyone else feels, SWTOR set a new level of music and songs. I simply have not yet even seen a game even compare.

A small handful of orchestated tracks: Peace One Chuba Too Many (synthesized example)!
This is a tiny amount of the music included. I can't possibly link every song or it would spam everyone to hell.
This game will go down in history as being the biggest sound & music game in history (thus far). Some games have nice music too (hey I like other games music) ... but can they do 5.5 hours of original music for 1 game?

Dont get me wrong, I love the music, I have the CD and star wars music has always been amazing. But there are a fair number of games that just have some epic music. I thought the original gw was great (Soule did do KotOR I believe?). I thought Age of Conans was pretty epic and well done. WoW has it's moments, few and far between, but when they hit, wowwy!
I don't know if I could say this game has the best music, just because John Williams made so much of it so long ago, and it wasn't created just for the game. The music created just for the game is quite good though. |

I will agree TOR has some great music. I would put Lotro new expansion ROR music right up there with the best of any mmo.

IMO FFXI had the best music out of any of the MMO's ive played. I could uear a song from that games soundtrack and tell you where it played or from what fight it was from. I mute my ingame music in other MMMOs and play it instead even sometimes. The game alone gave me great memories, but the amazing music along with it just amplified those memories 10x. I never actually noticed the music in game until I popped Heroic Moment. Not sure if that's good or bad.

In SWTOR I only remember the ultra slow motion 10bpm tracks on planets to strech one theme out over 5 minutes. Ugh. Almost no interactivity of music during combat either. Meh. I could insert any John Williams CD from Ep 1-6 and have more excitement while playing. |
