WvW is pretty fun, though meaningless overall. Really are better options for pvp/rvr. It's the new thing, give it a shot and see what you enjoy, others opinion really mean nothing.

Only other way is to drop 60 bucks and then 'see' if he likes it or not and that is exactly why he is here. To read players experince and opinions before he decided to throw away his 60 bucks. As far as opinions are like arseholes....that is exactly what you do on these forums like rest of us. |

The bottom line is that $60 is pretty reasonable for a game with no sub and good reviews. Try it out.

IMHO its worth the $60. The PvP and PvE both make it worth the price of admission. PvP does have some issues at the moment but overall its a fun experience. Same with PvE. For $60 its a bargain with no sub fee, even if all you did was PvP.
Just my opinion tho. =) |

Originally posted by Nadia I hope they will do their trial smartly, so that we don't have armies of trial level capped characters invading WvW. I guess there will be a time limit too, like in GW1. |

I'm a pvp'er from back in the Shadowbane days of open world loot drop pvp. I must say that I haven't been a fan of the pvp in this game so far. I though I would love WvW, but I don't. I really don't. It feels like TSW Zergs all over again. I have been having fun with the pve, but in my opinion, I wouldn't buy it for PvP.

The pvp isn't actually that good (imo) so from a pvp perspective alone it probably isn't. But as a total package it is hard to say the game is not "worth it".

Probably the only way to be sure you will like the game or not is to buy it or try it at a friend. To me the game is not worth it for pvp alone (actually wvw and spvp are the areas of the game i spent the less time in) ,as a few people already said I found RvR in War more enjoyable, even in old Southshore vs Taren Mill(Wow) battles I had more fun but since the game is b2p,pve is decent and it has a few interesting classes like engineer ,the game was worth buying for me. |

Originally posted by Yamota Sorry but just because theres only 1 zone where PvP is allowed doesnt make it any less world PvP then another game that allows world PvP across all zones. Tis is a DAoC model and it works really well for casuals, hardcores and organized teams. Sorry to burst your bubble but consentual pvP is what people are after, not mindless gankfest while questing which you seek. |

I think if solely for PvP then maybe not yet. Anet are still working on fleshing out the pvp side of GW2. I'd wait for a little bit more content comes out.
Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play? |

Originally posted by Zylaxx Make that 4 zones, but otherwise you're spot on. World PvP means non-instanced zones where you cannot get in without being open to attacks. The borderlands and eternal BGs are no different from tarren mill vs southshore. It's open world PvP, in one (out of four) area of the world. |

It is absolutely worth every cent. It is the single most competitive PvP MMORPG currently on the market, bar none. The balance between classes is superb, despite what you may have heard from tryhard flavor of the monthers, and almost every serious e-Sports team in this genre has embraced the game as there main source of competitive PvP. Naysayers will claim otherwise, try to convince you that it's garbage, etc... Do yourself a huge favor and ignore those individuals, or you will risk missing out on something truly special that this industry hasn't seen for nearly a decade. As a fan of PvP, if you don't pick this up, you will be doing yourself a massive disservice. |

When you have to wait in queue to enter that area is not really open world the same way wintergrasp is not really open world since they limited the numbers of players taking part in battles. Also can you travel to the the wvw area ?When you enter an area only by queueing for it from the game interface that don't sounds very open world to me.You could get to Southshore by running or flying and on way there you didn't had any loading screens and no limits on the number of players in that battles (beside the server problems, which newer games should have tried to solve instead of limiting pvp even more). |

Golbez
I beg to differ with the "its the single most competative pvp game on the market" It's the best modern themepark for pvp It's not the best full stop and certainly not the most competative. That would be eve. |

Originally posted by Zylaxx WvWvW is not open world pvp in the tradtional sense, it is a timed, instanced/zoned pvp affair. Whether that is good or bad boils down to the individuals subjective opinion but let's not make it into something it isn't, as it really doesn't help anyones case.
It is the kind of pvp "some" people are after, perhaps even "most of the people" but not "all people".
There is plenty of "mindless ganking" going on in both WvWvW and in the hotplay sPvP matches.
Again I am not taking sides on this one, but let's admit it's pros and cons. It offer accessible, zoned pvp in the RvR style. It also offers accessible arena pvp. That's great. But it doesn't offer anything like open world pvp and at the same time it is far from a bastion of "non ganking". |
