Originally posted by adam_nox Your skepticism is completely understandable. I might be able to give you a little more information on that being a community member and this was actually touched upon during some press releases between E3 and TGS. ARR's new client had a lot of people working on it. The majority from who is building Luminous Studio engine, in fact, it is headed by the same director, Yoshihisa Hashimoto, and was said that FFXIV:ARR's new engine uses much of the same framework. Which could be the reason why it was able to be developed so quickly as a lot of the work was already finished. Though, they are not going so far to call it a Luminous Engine entirely, but the sister of Luminous. The team for developing the new client for PC and PS3 on top of the new graphics engine is upwards to about 300 developers. I was hoping that I'd see this included in the article, but I understand that some people might not follow the game as intensely as others. lol They are actually putting a lot of time, money, and man power into this game and I sincerely hope that it does well and is greatly executed. I told myself that this is my last MMO as I don't have time for gaming much anymore and will probably have a lot less later in life. So, here is to ARR making magic! |

Awesome article. It was well written and I really enjoyed it.
I am psyched for 2.0. I feel like Yoshi-p and his team worked their asses off and regained my trust. Can't wait to try what they have been working on. |

Originally posted by keitholi I disagree totally with you, if the game is good is they really create something good, people will try it. Some will wait the reviews or a trial to see how it goes and i cant blame them. Me i will play at release and see this game by myself, like the new game it is. |

Originally posted by Skuall Should be noted that Summoner won't be present the day ARR launches (Arcanist will however, which is another class that possess a summon) but will be release shortly after. This was mentionned by Yoshi-P in the Live Letter.
He also made mention of the Ninja and Samurai, although I'm not sure if it's just ideas floating around or classes they're actually planning to make. ------ |

Also, about renaming it and calling it a new game, it doesn't have to be 15, it could be 16, or 17, or 22. Still could be done. |

one thing that used to really upset me about this game was the d/load speed of updates and not to metion the game itself..i did enjoy certain aspects of the original but the engine sucked big time.does anyone have any info on if they are changing the way or how they do the updates(can't find anything on it).i do really want to give this another go mainly because i dont have to pay for the game again, but i,m very wary of being promised stuff by an mmo company only for them to lie thru their teeth.

Originally posted by Silok Yeah, you won't be able to buy it anyway. More than a month ago SE sent out instructions that FFXIV cannot be sold any longer and that they will buy back all copies of the game from vends.
However, if you had created an account at any time during the first version, you don't need to buy ARR and create another one unless you're planning on playing the PS3 version. Even people with FFXIV Collectors Editions will get a new ARR version of it. |

It will be interesting to see how the box fee + subscription thing goes for them. I'm biased against subs at this point and see it as an archaic foot in the past that will hinder success. Nothing about the game, from press release material, at this point interests me in even trying it. Why would I as opposed to just playing the themeparks I'm already invested in?

impressive. It takes some balls to admit the game had problems and go revamp it. I wish that would happen to TOR as well.

Originally posted by skydiver12 I apologize for the poor choice of words. What i meant was that i have no idea of how version 1.0 played, so i won't be able to judge whether the evolution to 2.0 would be a positive or a negative one. It wasn't my intention to use "vets bias" in a pejorative sense.
I'll be experiencing the game as a newbie and i'm fully aware of that. |

will be giving this a try when it releases. if the game ends up being a succes this will be a massive event in gaming and enix history. no company has ever attempted to do this with a game before on this level. i am not sure anyone else but enix and the other few power house game companys could even attempt something like this though.
