IMO, I don't even consider GW2 a true MMORPG. It has many features of an MMORPG, but they are poorly connected and don't synnergize together such as the connections between PVP and PVE.This is even more profound than in other games. It lacks any kind of metagaming whatsoever. I play GW2 and I feel like I have one game tha thas separate isolated subgames under one title. It's more a MMOG than an MMORPG. If the conversation turned "Tit-for-Tat", and I've stopped posting, Consider it your win. |

Originally posted by eAzydaman Fixed this for you. You not liking a MMORPG doesn't make it bad. WoW is the most successful MMO of all times for now, and there are many good reasons why so many players enjoy(ed) that game. And commercially, it's definitely still the best. A game which maintained millions of subscribers for 8 years is definitely one of the best games ever, and that would be true even if I don't like the game. Sadly, the above mentionned clones completely failed where WoW succeeded. |

I enjoyed SWTOR more than GW2 but I think being better is a matter of taste. I really didnt like SWTOR harvesting/gathering and GW2's crafting isnt that much better.

But yeah you're wasting your time, I don't need someone to tell me what to post about or when I should "move on".
Edit: You do know you can block posters right? Why not just use that instead of whine about someone's posts? I want to be Uncle Owen again. |

i think it's the best game to date. graphics are amazing, attention to detail is unreal, combat is reactive and has just the right amount of abilities, builds give enough choice, DEs are a lot of fun, discovery crafting is actually fun (for me), multi guilds, cross server play, 3 faction massive battlegrounds, and all the little features help a lot as well (send mats to bank, F picks up all loot, etc). the only real complaint i have with the game is the longevity of it. i have 500 hours in and don't see myself playing this everyday for life. i do like this thread though. it's interesting to see what people like. i hate a lot of the games listed throughout this thread, but that's just my taste. besides GW2 i think Rift is a great game as well though, but it's really hard for me to play it lately. mana, have to be stationary to cast, no dodging, missing all the small goodies, etc. i'm almost wishing i had never played GW2 as i think it may have ruined what i want/expect out of an mmorpg. Experience is the best teacher.. if you can afford the tuition. |

Perpetuum imo
Tsw did leveling better, but gw2 has more variety at endgame. War did some things better pvp wise, some things worse, but gw2 has better pve Swtor and Aoc just plain sucked Rift, while a decent game isn't for me at all, its a wow style raid grinder Dcuo I couldn't get to work Darkfall, tera few others never even tried them. I think overall gw2 does most things "good enough" for me, there's nothing mindblowing though. E.g. WvW Is fun but it ain't daoc or planetside. The exploration is fun but it ain't daoc or EQ or whatever. the break from hub based questing is great, but I think tsw did it better. The crafting is better than your typical wow crafting but it ain't eve. I would go further back than 2005 though, I most definetly prefer gw2 to wow as gw2 is a balanced game for all playstyles where as wow is a raiders first game. |

Why do you like to use the word "agenda" so much? It's like your on a crusade or something. DamonVile- Games built for disposable players are now apparently built by disposable employees. |

Can't say as I have not played every MMO that has been released. - Al Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse. |

Personally, I've enjoyed most of the MMOs I've played in the last 7 years more than GW2. As far as themeparks go, TSW is far more enjoyable to me. I've also enjoyed STO, CO, LOTRO, Aion, SWTOR, WAR, and several others much more than GW2. Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned. |

Better MMOs since 2005.. let´s see
EvE Age of Conan The Secret World Star Wars the Old Republic ( at least it had story and decent combat instead of pointless zerging...) Rift ...and a bunch of others probably, I´d say even TERA has an edge over GW2, so in short, GW2 is probably the worst piece of MMO-ware I ever touched. Oh wait there was some strange asian one I tried but I don´t remember the name. |

Ultimatly GW2 has been good for MMO's, there was a string of MMO dissapointments, I think investers were starting to think WoW's success was a fluke. However I don't think we will really know if GW2's a great MMO until at least six months down the road. I have played quite a few MMO's for a month or two then got tired of them. I think that happens quite a bit with other people as well. So Far EVE and WoW are the MMO's that captured my interest for more than a few months. (But that's just me) But the early indications seem to be that GW2 will be going strong for the long run. (Just the sheer number of 'I don't like GW2' threads seem to indicate it's the next big thing) |
