I honestly have no reason to play PvP other than the fact I want to kill 5 minutes of my time. There is just no progression and no point to playing. It's one of those "fun for an hour or two ... the FIRST day.." then it just becomes routinely boring and pointless. I mean I do not want to bash GW2 but this is just a general concern as a gamer. There is just NO point whatsoever to play other than to get new armor that I personally do not give a crap about.

Does anyone else feel the same? It's fun for a while, but then there is no point also. I want a game that gives me progress towards the time/skill/work I put into it.

Rank 7 Rabbit.

No stat bonus, just prestige progression.

Play for fun. Play to win. Play for perfection. Play with friends. Play in another world. Why do you play?

There are server ranks.

If you don't like GW2 then you need to stop playing video games. Period.

It sounds like you are talking about sPvP. In that case PvP weapons and gear are given to you, you are bumped to max level 80, it's a different kind of PvP from WvW and is centered on skill vs. skill rather than gear/level. So... what kind of work did you actually put into that PvP character? Again... weapons, gear, levels, skill points, etc. are all given to you.

If you want progression from PvP then do WvW.

Wow first everyone was owe god they added more PvP progression to WoW and then in EQ2 they said the same thing and now there is no gear progression in GW2 and everyones like this is lame theres no progression. There is you just don't see it but its there there is rank progression but theres also armor progression and not just in looks but some have stats you can not get from what you start with you could buy it from a merchant or earn it from ranks or points earned. theres alot of progression but you all think games where gear makes you so much better that being on an even ground is lame.

I hated PvP in most mmo's except 2 or 3 like Realm online and DAOC I liked DCUO till it became a gear game then it was lame. But GW2 offers alot of different style to pvp kinda like a shooter its right there out of the box jump in and play and thats what I like about it. I don't have to play throught the game just to pvp I can log in and jump into it wheather WvWvW or sPvP aand play it for as much as I have time and I might progress buy earning rank or buy helping my server capture a tower, keep, or supplie point and if I have more then a few hrs I might be able to help cap a keep. To me thats more fun then worrying about getting the next piece of gear.

To me I enjoy gaming I dont play to be uber I play to have fun. If a game is not fun to me guess what I move on and play something else till I find one that is. When I find that great game and not sure if in my life time there will be one I hope it has everything I want in an mmo.

GW2 is the type of game more akin to a FPS than an RPG in the sense that there is no progression. Many RPG players love progression, but many don't seem to realize it until they miss it. I personally do, and I also got bored fast with GW2 since it felt like a FPS where, yes, everyone's balanced yet every match ends up feeling empty.

Fun is in the gamer, not the game. To me fun is progression. To the OP, it's probably the same. There's no need to bash us just because we don't find GW2 fun.

This is a game for people that loathe progression.  Its completely caterd to those who hated doing stuff over and over for "stuff" hated grinding for items, hated killing stuff for more skills.

Now you can do DE's over and over just to do them, and do dungeons, just to do them, and pvp just to do it.  Some people like this, i dont see what the big deal is honestly.

Not my personal preference, i feel that a lengthy and complex progression is the foundation of a great mmorpg.  Quick action and being able to do it all asap is the foundation of a great action game.

My opinion is that if they were basically going to cut out all the RPG progression they should have cut out the mmorpg combat they use.  Game would have been quite interesting witha  unique combat system more attuned to the action game it is.  No an active dodge to get out of the super obvious red circle warning on the ground isnt that...neither is the dodge with heal so you can dodge someone whos tab targeted on you and wont miss anyway.  They needed a faster paced version of TERA's combat or something.

I see the biggest failure of this game wasnt that they cut out everything related to RPG progression, and really progression is the foundation of RPGS...but that they didnt fill any of the voids left behind.  They didnt replace the loss of the deadicated healer role with anything unique...they didnt fill the void left when you get all your skills early on in game, they didnt fill the void left by removing dungeon gear progression or the void left by having no pvp progression.  Its all based on just doing it because you like to do it which leaves a lot of people wondering why...

I dont like GW2 at all, played it for a month was bored silly

I am enjoying quite a few other video games, but I guess I should quit them as well

I'm sorry, but no.

Games *always* had a purpose, a metagame as we call it today, even if it was as simple as getting that high score and your name in three bold letters on the title screen in the arcades.

Games you "just play" were *never, ever* popular. Ever.

Progression:

Full exotic pvP set
Full exotic dungeon set
Full exotic dungeon set 2 (say vitality heavy)
Full exotic magic find set

Get rich to be able to have a constant supply of the best food, potions and siege

That's all before we start looking at prestige gear, achievments, titles, legendaries

I do think pvp needs good ranking and rewards however.

rpg/mmorg history: Bloodwych>Bards Tale 1-3>Eye of the beholder > Might and Magic 2,3,5 > FFVII> Baldur's Gate 1, 2 > Planescape Torment >Morrowind > WOW (9500 hrs on main mage)> oblivion > LOTR (480 Hunter) > Rift (230 hours mage) > Guild Wars (1900hrs elementalist) Vanguard. > GW2(350 elementalist)

Now playing GW2/Diablo 3/Rift

Waiting Archeage.

Reading comprehension failure. I never claimed what you summed up so I feel no need to reply with an argument. Just pointing out you're not very bright.

I think the main progression in GW2 isnt really self progression so to speak, it is supposed to be more about progressing the whole server in the WvWvW rankings. Sadly in this day and age less and less people are bothered about everyone working together for a common goal and only care about what they themselves deserve.

GW2 is supposed to be all about wanting your server to be number one but very few people seem to care about "realm pride" especially while they still have the free server transfers and can just hop server to which ever server is dominating.

They're trying this new thing, it's like ungamification.  er, Degamification?  Where "gamification" is about making things that aren't games rewarding, ala gaming.. GW2 is doing the opposite.  Removing the game from gaming, so that we can just play for "fun."

Anyhow, bit skeptical of it, myself.

When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

You never claimed it? You said games you just play were never popular. How does that no apply to exactly what i said? Oh, because youre flat out wrong and refuse to acknowledge it so your answer is "you're not very bright".

Speaking of not being very bright:

FPS games today have more progression in their multiplayer components than GW2 does.

Seriously, I'm not kidding.

Really? Have you ever even played the game? Oh let me guess. You feel that picking the 1 particular aspect of the game, sPvP which is what the OP is talking about, where there is intentionally no progression because it was designed around e-sport style competition rather than progression applies to the entire game.

Interesting

But honestly I feel the same. I think the reason is that being grown up we need more incentive. Call it a bigger game if you want.

As a kid i could spinn a top and see it as amusing game. Today I can spin it one two times. Say "Ok, so thats what it does" and thats it. Now if there would be a world championship of top spinning, and way to progress in it. Than I would be interested.
