Only because you take out tier based gears out of the game and replace it with cosmetics doesn't mean you will get all the gear handed to you on silver platter. |

ONly being playing now for a week or two and it's ok for about an hour a day. Can't deal with it more than that. Just tried sPVP last night..."Zerg Fest" is putting it mildly. If I want that I will go back to Warhammer, which I think has better PVP mechanics.

Originally posted by austriacus While there is some truth to that, most of the caster classes are are poorly designed , broken, or both. Why learn to play a classes that are full of bugs or have poor mechanics? Lets take Elemental for example; I like the class, but I have to work twice as hard to achieve the same damage (and stay alive) as I do on a guardian. I don't want them to be easy, but I also don't want to work twice as hard for the SAME damage as my guardian puts out for half the effort. The Mes and Necro don't fair much better either. The bugs and poor designs aren't as glaring in big groups, but really come to the surface going solo and PVP. I'm not an IT Specialist in real life, but I play one on the internet. |

Have only done open world PvE untill now so my opinion is only based on that. It is a nice game imo. - Im still having fun because im playing a Elementalist (lvl 77 atm) and found this profession a challenge and fun trying to master.(no idea if one day i master this anyway).Allready start others professions but cant pass lvl 4 or 5 befor back to my ele. (need to try mesmer one day) - I have a low pc (the best one burns) and play with everthing in Low and None settings, got 14fps in a solo mob fight and 1 - 4fps in events with a bunch of ppl around, this is the main reason why i didnt try out PvP yet. Still the game is playable on this settings wich is a very good point. - Im a old L2 fan and allways found the world of L2 amazing and well design, even im not a great fan of GW2 graphics i found the world very well design. English is not my main language so i think im not explain this very well. Its like: the locations of rocks, trees, etc make sense. In same games it looks the terrains was random generator. - For me the main signature of GW2 is the downlevel system in PvE and the upperlevel system in PvP. I really enjoy it, at least in PvE part. - Using a waypoint its really my last option, i like to travel around even if it is only to speak to my trainer to reset traits and do stuff while traveling. Mounts will be very nice to my play style.
Its still to earlly to have a global opinion about the game but i confess my fun is mostly based on trying to understand and master my lvl 77 elementalist and i like how the world is set up wich is really important for me to enjoy a game. |

I don't see all the hype I'm sorry. It is a good game but it has gotten old really fast for me. I still log in and and play every once in awhile, but it just doesn't have me saying, man I can't wait to log in when I get home. I can't really put my finger on why either. I love the fact that the stupid trinity is gone and combat can be chaotic like it should be, but something is simply missing for me. It's not like WoW, I knew within 5 minutes of installing it that I hated that POS but I gave it a few months of grinding to get to max level and raiding for gear to get my money's worth before I uninstalled it. I hated the graphics, lore, community, and complete lack of needing skill to advance. There is nothing like that with this game; I just don't feel any excitement for GW2 anymore. |

Originally posted by jpaprocki ^ Exactly that :D I find my Ele to be extremely weak. I didn't notice it in beta or launch because there were so many people around that I couldn't tell she was doing horrible damage. By the time I started getting frustrated with her I had already progressed so far in world completion that I just couldn't stomach the thought of doing that all over again on another character. So (unfortunately) she is my "main", even though I'm not happy about it. I realize that I'm probably not as skilled as a lot of people at gaming. I also have a very fine line between challenging and just plain frustrating. So personally for me, the Ele is frustrating. I want to be a glass cannon, but I feel like a glass bb gun. I much prefer the other classes I've tried, but like I said, I don't have the willpower to start map completion all over again. |

Originally posted by Tonin109 I think end game can be different things to different people. I'm probably in the minority here, but I enjoy dailies, farming for rep/titles, and collecting things. When I first saw the badges in the character selection screen for the different Factions, I was excited. I thought I was going to be able to do daily quests for these factions and in return I could get minis, unique skins, a title, etc. for becoming max rep with them.... but then all of the sudden I already had the badge after doing a few personal story quests and that was it. Very anticlimatic. I didn't really feel like I worked for it. I could collect different prestigious skins, but to be honest I don't like any of them. The legendaries seem so far out of reach that I don't even want to think about it. I thought I was going to be able to get rare mini drops not cash shop only. New recipes to obtain in various ways during exploration or dungeons. I would love more PvE titles. I know Anet has the potential to expand upon things and I look forward to player housing in hopes that it might be a fun time sink. As it stands right now though, I'm (very slowly) working on world completion, looking forward to what the Halloween event will bring, and that's about it.

The fact that so many like GW2 gives me hope.
It has a very sandbox feel to it, I'm hoping developers take notice and we see more quality sandbox mmorpgs on the market. |

Yes this is something I would like to see in GW2, faction based outfits/weapons ect that you have to work for to get. Like in LOTRO I'm a really horse whore there I love the faction horses, so that was one of many goals I had/have in that game. Always good to have more than one thing to work for imo. If it's not broken, you are not innovating. |

Originally posted by IntheShadows This is something I mentioned in another thread too (or might be this one, who knows?) I like some of the harder classes as well (Thief, Ele, to name a couple). But why do I need to put in the extra effort just to play this class? Where's the payoff (aside from some cool animations)? Warrior is boring b/c it is sooo easy in PVE. Thief is more interesting but I need to put in so much more to stay alive. I just don't get it. Edit: Also with the downleveling, I've noticed a couple areas where I was actually downleveled below the mob (was in a 37 area, I'm 44 and was downleved to 38 or so and was attacked by level 42 mobs)...what is up with that? Release a game with a very large established fanbase from 10+ years of bnet history when the market was still emerging and the casual base had not yet been established, thus ripe for harvesting a momentious self perpetuating playerbase people never leave because they have X hours invested in their characters, and their friends and everyone else plays anyway. Not discounting Blizzard quality... but WoW's success is as much about perfect timing as it is quality, if not more so. - Derros |

GW2 was one of the most boring games I've ever played. It's so incredibly repugnant to me, I'm repulsed by the mention of it. Everything from the over zealous fans to the shallow gameplay makes me irritated that it has so much attention. When I first started playing MMOs 11 years ago, GW2 is the polar opposite of what I envisaged a MMO would be like in 2012. It is in my top 10 worst games of all time, perhaps even the top 5.
Game is complete trash...
IMO. |
