I read here on this site that SWTOR was supposed to go F2P this fall. Can't remember the source, but I'm curious if it's free yet and in what form the F2P model would take.

Not yet. Speculation is this November or just after. They're limiting endgame and such mostly, kinda like the SoE model with a cash shop to buy items. Here's a link for information: http://www.swtor.com/free/features |

Yeah, by saying Fall I was definitely thinkg Sept-Oct, but I still am worried by that chart. It only says access to "full class stories" which means they are going to make people buy the planet quests meaning it will be hard as hell to keep up with your class story without putting money in the till. Grind mad mobs I guess.

Originally posted by Cameron27 I doubt they're gonna only give class stories and not planet. If they do, they just might as well not launch F2P at all - that'd be the worst model I know of. The biggest limiting factor for F2Pers is the restriction on the GTN and limit on flashpoints/warzones. |

I dunno. EA's track record for delivery with SWTOR is hit or miss .. mostly miss.
EA says November as their target release. Then they said Fall, which includes a portion of December.
The Freemium restrictions are so immense that unless someone is a dedicated SW fan, they are not going to spend money. The stories are free, but that's about it. If someone is still puzzled as to the restrictions, they are available. If you subscribed initially, but then unsubscribed, .. if you come back you will wonder why you can't post on the GTN, or use the mailbox for instance .. or shout. .. or queue more than once in a week for a Warzone (OK they talked about raising this to 3). You might wonder why you can only access some of your characters, or why they are all human (speculative to race restrictions)?
You might also wonder why you are level capped, and why others in your guild get to go to operations (raids) but you can not.
Freemium players, as EA intendds them to be, will be scum. Pay up to be SuPeR KkeLW .. two K's because it's double Kewl. Want a nice understanding of life? Try Spirit Science: "The Human History" |

There are no details yet about the F2P limitations aside these: http://www.swtor.com/free/features Any other information is pure speculation. I am sure we will know more soon. For those who have or had subscriptions, here are details about cartel coins As you might know or not, these players who purchased digital deluxe edition will get additional 250 coins.

For thouse who change sub to F2P - one of the answer from above link. What happens to my existing characters if I become a Free-to-Play member?
We will not be deleting any characters from player accounts. Any characters already existing on your account at the time of the Free-to-Play launch will still be available to you afterwards. The choice of which of your characters are active under the Free-to-Play system is entirely up to you, and you can choose from any of your existing characters with no restriction other than the number of active character slots available.
Edit. Right now F2P 1-15 levels are not limited to just class quest, players have all quests available, and I do not think that that will change, so in my opinion all class, world and side quests will be available for F2P players.

Originally posted by Draron Thank you very much for that info. Overall, I like their model. I wonder what travel options are limited, how many flashpoints I can do, and how many warzones I can do a week though. |

thought it was fact - not speculation for November
from August 2012 Star Wars: The Old Republic will become free-to-play up to level 50 in November.

FTP to level 15. You can play all classes and have up to 12 toons per server. I play a bit here and there and almost have all of the classes leveled to 10. I hope to get all to 15 by the time the game goes FTP.
