 When people talk about "The World" in relation to .hack they ar enot talking about the real world. The World is the name of the MMO the characters are playing in the .hack games & animated series.

If this comes thru im going to jump out the window. lol kidding aside im gonna be a happy little boy.

The new hack anime quantum is set really close to our time I beleive around 2025. If some really mad scientist comes out with those goggles and makes a game based off of the hack series that would be the day.

A question I'd like to ask is this: What would .hack/MMO have going for it? I mean, lore isn't going to cut it in a long run and if you make it true to the spirit of anime and PS2 titles then what you will have is a semi-instanced FFA themepark MMO with a really interesting and unusual traveling design and an odd skill system based on what gear you wear ... thats it. Other than that, its just load a zone, kill/grind mobs, enter dungeon, go through its levels, *OPTIONAL* fight a boss, open chest, leave dungeon. Thats is it.

I've heard of it as well that a gaming company is going to produce a dot hack MMORPG. Hoping this game would happen :))

A .Hack mmo is something ill wait forever for, i got into MMO's by playing .Hack.

Ever since playing the original I wanted it to be a real mmo, not just a pso or diablo type but a full fledged mmo even though I guess it would have similar elements like Kuraphimaru said and they are very right about what they said.  The only problem is that most likely some stupid company would ruin the things that made the game unique and awesome.  I would still play though because I thouroughly enjoyed each game.

What you say is true Kuraphimaru, but if you look at the past mmo's that companies have created they always find a way to mix in an Event, or Quests, all im saying is they don't have to follow the anime "Exactly" they can make their own plot, in their own way, but im sure the players wouldnt mind as long as they were able to use the same basic features shown in the anime. as in weapons and skills, and as you said traveling, the company can go out of their way and make "The World" vast and have many locations and cities, knowing how popular it would get, Or they could keep it simple its all up to them so in reality you can never tell. and who knows maybe the bosses will be great and the dungeons too. We all just have to sit back and wait. *sigh* I Really Do Hope They Hurry Tho! cant wait to play :D

I also suggest Nexon making the game, because i find it'd be similar to the make up of their game Mabinogi, since Mabinogi is 3D and is rumored to have a uniqe fighting system i think Nexon would have the least trouble creating a .hack TheWorld mmo.

I really want one because i am kind of addicted to dot hack and i think that the profits would be as high as World Of Warcraft or perhaps even higher :))

I don't think a .hack MMO will happen, though I can't say never because they are making all sorts of wierd MMOs nowadays. The only problem I forsee with it is unless they made it as immersive as The World was, the game would just be yet another Japaneese/Korean fantasy MMO that only die-hard .hack fans would play, with the exception of people passing through. For them to make a truly amazing .hack MMO they would need to make it as big, epic and immersive as the series makes it seem. And trust me, if people started going into comas and getting stuck in the world, I would play that shit all day.

Anyone here read the classic Red dwarf book "Better than life?". Games like this could really end humanity.

If they had some sort of a mixture between a sand box and an open sim kind of engine then if this game was made this way I could see it really take off and be populer.  but for me personally it would have to be a free to play to get anywhere
