Originally posted by WARCRYtm Just as much a chance as any other company closing a game once it's not profitable, possibly less since NCSoft has a track record of keeping a game open far longer than most others would. Draconica is GPotato, and Point Blank didn't do well in either Korea or China, which is why both NCSoft and Shanda dropped it. If you liked Point Blank, check out Project Blackout as it is the same game just re-released under another name.
filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. It is like they don't care about the pvp community. Nitth: What makes you so sure its a simple fix? filmoret: Because most of them are. Sometimes its just changing a number in a code string other times its creating a few variables. However none of them should take over a few hours of coding. |

Actually NCSoft drops games like a hot rock compared to other major companies (SOE kept Matrix Online up for far too long and they still have Vanguard up). Tabula Rasa lasted only a year, but that was something NCSoft did themselves to get out of the deal with Garriot (read up on it), Auto Assault went pretty fast and so did Exteel. |

ARENAnet is a studio in ownership of NCSoft, but that doesn't mean ANet does what NCSoft tells them to. I kinda got the idea that NCsoft just takes a bit of profits and let ANet do what they want, they were doing really a great job so far. Since ANet had GW1 running for really a long time now and it was profitable enough just with its few million copies sold over all those years I doubt GW2 would even come under consideration of being "shut down". The game sold over 2 million copies IN FIRST WEEK! It has A LOT of players, add to that they're making an e-sport out of it - and you got a game with a lot of pvp players alone. Hell, they're still runing GW1 servers! I have no fear :D "Happiness is not a destination. It is a method of life." ![]() |

Originally posted by TeknoBug Three years for Exteel is 'pretty fast'? Also, Auto Assault was bleeding money from the minute the servers went up, yet they still kept it running for a year and a half to try to make it work. A company is going to shut down a game once it's no longer profitable. some companies faster than others, but NCSoft is one with a history of giving it every chance before going that route. I get it - you're jaded over TR and CoH. No one is looking to deprive you of your rsentment, but to make claims like the one above is silly as history and fact say otherwise. filmoret: One thing I have never figured out is why the game devs hardly ever fix simple problems that arise. Can we wait with this discussion until the 7-8 years Gw1 is shut down , if ever ? It's kind of pointless to have now ?
read how to create a succesfull mmo before posting about GW2. And read tao of ArenaNet before talking about innovation in GW2 |

Hm Exteel was 2 years, yes AA was 1.5 years, still pretty short lived. Like I said the Matrix Online was up from 2005 til 2009 with almost no breath left, Vanguard is still going along with just 2 servers.

Lineage1 is still running in korea. For clarification, if you want to call a devil by it's name, it's NCWEST <not> NCSOFT :) |
