Welcome to the MMO with new endgame.

People are leaving because they are bored it is that simple. People are going to give you other silly fanboy explanations, but the simple truth is people are bored wandering around looking for something to do when their is nothing besides 'exploring' etc.

LOL those people are the ones who jump on every new MMO released and they play non stop, get to the end game in no time then cry about the game lacks of content or things to do. If you get bored out of an MMO so quickly, its because you are bored of the genre, not the game in particular. Good try tho. People like this are a plague to the genre and I just wished they would stop being such idiots for playing games that were obviously going to bored them in no time.

I agree, you get casuals and people who never really understood rpgs from the beginning.  'RPG' no longer exists in mmoRPGS, and the 'MM' is definitely starting to diminish as well as people demand more easily accessible, casual, soloable content in these game types.  It bothers me, because the great ideas out there are far and few in between because developers are trying to appease AS MUCH of the population as they can with their games to maximize sales and profits, when in the long run it would be more worth it to target a single group, or style of gamers and appease the hell out of them.

This is what can happen when a company tries being innovative.  Before it released, it sounded plausible that people would keep playing even if there wasn't a gear progression treadmill.  That hope may be cracking at this point.  I realized that once my character stops progressing, my drive to play the game takes a dive.  I then look for another game where I can at least level up in.

So you just defined every single mmorpg.

Wrong, i just described GW2. Every other mmo has something for you to do besides wandering around like an idiot exploring a map and collecting hearts.

And people are wondering why the games dying off already.

When I wake up, the real nightmare begins

So according to you I'm playing my endgame wrong by doing WvW instead of "wandering around like an idiot"?  Apparently WvW is an illusion and I'm actually just aimlessly wandering around a map killing mobs that have server names with the suffix of "invader" attached to them.  That is some good AI for those mobs.  I guess I'm not actually on TS either and those are just voices in my head trying to coordinate my aimless wondering,...weird.  It's also weird that during my wandering I'm able to take over keeps and towers, upgrade them and defend them with other players who are also wondering around like idiots.

Maybe I should switch to game to where I can pve for some gear, so I can pve for some gear, so I can pve for some gear.  That sounds like such a non-idiotic way to play an endgame.

Still going strong with over 300 hours played, and many guildies from the headstart are still there..

Sure people play l+ess hours a day then at release, but most of them still play.   And there are still a lot of new players joining the boat.  They must have sold 3 million copies by now, and i expect them to sell a lot more during the holiday season.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations)
Currently playing : The Elder Scrolls Online and Wildstar

I don't know, the drop off in my experience "feels" the same as it did in SWTOR. My guild has gone from 30+ people all online to 1 or 2. And I am not talking about people just not representing the guild I am in, but totally off line. Many of them hit 80, (though not all) and just kinda quit coming back.

Speaking to many of them, they just logged in less and less, then not at all. I know different people have different experiences, and I am still having fun with the game, but it does not feel like it retains people very well at all, in my experience. Yes, there are tons of people still in game, no problem with DEs etc, but my friends list and guild roster have definitely tanked, *exactly* like it did in SWTOR.

That's one thing I love about the design of GW2 zones and how it disperses players throughout them.  I journey to what I think is the most obscure location in the middle of absolutely nowhere, I discover something amazing (because very nook and cranny is Tryia's massive zones are jam packed with unique stuff) and feel awesome about it as if I uncovered a secret that surely nobody else has, and I then inevitably bump into a few other players.  The game manages to create the best of both worlds in this regard: i manages to feel extremely populated even in remote locations while also still creating the sensation that you are discovering a unique, secluded area.

Don't you think it's pretty obvious that they follow the tourist guide, aka POI system, the same way you do?

Um yes, that would be the design I spoke of.

Help!!!!

'people are stopping to play Guild Wars 2 Pls tell me why....'

No they aren't - no explanation is necessary. If you have facts to the contrary you should post them in support of what you are saying.

... and do try to avoid the trap of quoting Xfire - whose gameplay graphs nearly always show the same thing for new releases for any game.

Forgive me for saying so, but to aid your posts being useful to you in the future I would suggest the following;

Present some facts supporting what you are saying and consider the likley reaction of people to a post of your profile. Most people consider an Apprentice Member of these forums starting a thread with nothing more than brief throwaway complaints with no clear basis and generally negative in tone to be 'Trolling'.

As for your stated experience - my Guild is recruiting and as an EU Guild there are people online about 16 hours of the day - with things falling off only after 11pm CET. Our server Seafarers Rest is always busy, and it never takes me more than 10 minutes to get PUGs for any dungeon. DE's are always well 'subscribed' and bots, though present and fairly few in number.

Moreover, the hype score for GW2 has risen by 0.4 points to 9.3 since release on these forums - where a significant proportion of threads tend to be extremely negative.

Do you beleive people are leaving the game only to stop off here and click 10/10 in the hype-meter as they uninstall the game?

I suggest you confine yourself to making comments about your personal experience instead of jumping on the last carriage of the 'troll-train' (however unwittingly) loaded up with passengers who think their narrow view of their own minute to minute experience is representative of the state of the game worldwide.

I think you will conclude after reflecting on this, that you might look like foolish maintaining such a position.

GW2 player numbers is as relevant as any other F2P player numbers, ie impossible to tell and not really important.

I'm a huge fan of the game, you can easily see that in my post history. That said:

Just transferred to Kaineng server from HoD and wow...there is a huge difference in 'medium' and 'full'

- population is dead, very hard to accomplish DEs and champions are out of the question.

-lag is horrific, comes in spurts, but the game actually freezes for 2-10 seconds at times, never seen this before. according to map chat, it's server-wide.

-When you do find people, they are 50% usually bots. the server is plagued by bots, 10-20+ in areas, all nakid all being controlled by the same users. The names are so obvious 'asdawd', etc.. it's amazing to me it's being allowed. On HoD and JQ there was a very rare chance I saw a single bot once every other day. Any world map area on Kaineng that has a Trader near it has tons of bots running in packs killing anything that moves. Least you can tell the different users as they seem to all make the same race/sex for their bots for themselvs individually (though they are all rangers).

So...is what Kaineng going through the future of this game? If so, it's not a bright one.

Last part of this post,

the OP is right, yes people have been leaving, in droves. reason: WvWvW and the invisiblity bug. entire armies are fighting invisibly now, no one wants to participate. and without pvp at 80 it's either play an alt or go to another game.

So I support this game 100%, but to say it's all flowers and sunny skies, is just not the truth.

Oh, and I do not post on the Guild Wars 2 Forums because I run my internet without cookies (max security enabled), and they want me to knock that down for whatever reasons (none of which are beneficial to me).

No, it's not. But it does share the exact same characteristics the populations of F2P have and thus it's impossible and irrelevant to try and computer player numbers the way you'd do it in a subscription based mmorpg.

In what ways is it exactly like a F2P game in characteristics? You have to download it? OK, same as the sub game then.

Otherwise, you have to PAY money to play GW2, like a sub based game. Free to Play games do not require a purchase. Maybe you use the anagram so much, you forget the 'free' in the name.

Sorry OP, last rebuttle on this from me, do not wish to derail.

You pay subscription to play GW2? That's a new one, you must be the only one in the world doing it.

In a subscription based game the "population" is a tangible number, because they play every month the subscription fee. In F2P games (and GW2) such a subscription is not necessary or relevant. You can basically play today for 5 days, then not pick the game for 2 months, then play for 2 months straight and then never touch the game ever again. How do you compute player numbers?

Simply. You can't. Only way would be if Anet was giving daily activity info (sort of like steam is doing), but that will probably never happen.

Well yes offcourse the player number (or just the hours played) are going down. I am sure less people play dishonored right now compared to when it got released as well. The Jade Query TS however is still pretty active for the PvP.

I thought the pop dropped but really as the developers said, people will spread out over time.  I still see people running around a fair bit on the higher levels but now I am seeing some events where people don't turn up automatically.  However, I spent the last week in Lions arch and it looks like hundreds of people are hanging out there.

I played SWTOR and around the same time it felt depressing!

So you are saying that $15/month will guarantee players will play all the time?

From reading some threads one would believe $15/month was peanuts but I guess it is a commitement that guarantees continous game play,
