Which would you prefer? A game that allows you to play with friends in a co-op mode or do you prefer plain old MMO? I am thinking I would rather see more games go co-op mode. For instance Skyrim with a co-op mode would be awesome.

I would like it if Project Eternity had co-op mode / party multi-player, so not sure I'll kick in for that one as it appears single player. Those rpgs have the benefit of great story shared with friends directly. A bit like PnP games in that respect. A co-op game that should be coming out soon, that looks hellish fun: Monaco - That's raw co-op though, not RPG. These sorts of games have actually been my most enjoyed played simultaneously on same screen with a close friend of any game. Think of eg a board game such as chess/go, these can involve a great conversation atst as playing the game rules and the 2 interacting. That's hard to beat. But ultimately if mmorpg can be done right, I think that has the potential for you to enjoy emergent stories with your friends on a much bigger scale, eg running your own going concern, shaping the virtual world... where ppl's characters are really affected. That could be similar to that euphoric experience of being in a team and winning when you're down and out, but manage to claw back to -1pt and score the winning play just as the clock goes dead! That's something mmorpgs can achieve and is also pretty hard to beat. |

Skyrim coop would be preferable to an mmo, it would just give more control over events and give an evolving story. Its a mistake for every man and his dog to ditch NWN style coop for the mmo bandwagon.
