I did a bit of digging, and found that Playspan and Ultimatepay are connected (at least as corporate entitiies), so if you have an Ultimatepay account, and feel the need to lock down some MMO accounts you have, change the password for that along with any MMOs connected to Playspan, which appear to include a number of games.
EDIT: Just editing this original post. I based my information off of the report at Develop, but wasn't able to update my post till just now (fell asleep, bad form really). Updates over at Massively (http://massively.joystiq.com/2012/10/10/security-breached-in-playspan-hack-multiple-games-affected/) and through commenters here indicate that some of the games listed aren't connected to PlaySpan anymore. I apologize for getting overly paranoid and scaring the heck out of people. That said, if you did have a PlaySpan account with the same or similar credentials to a game account, you may want to change your passwords as a precaution. A writer and gamer from the Philippines. Edit: Anyone with an NCsoft account reset your account information, Guild Wars 2 players especially. |

Strange the article of the OP didn't mention that, as DDO and LOTRO are much larger than EVE Online. Especially due to the Freemium model and the huge Cash Shop. Honestly, and I'm just thinking worst case scenario here, this might affect MOBAs too... I can't figure out what games are connected to Playspan, but I do remember that Ultimate Game Card (a playspan product, I guess?) and Ultimatepay are used as potential payment systems for a bunch of games from developers big and small. I'm currently in the process of changing all my passwords on every MMO I've ever played.

according to https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=2028760#post2028760 , Playspan is not connected to EVE Online. they used to sell game time codes, but there is no current relationship.

I'll probably play paranoid myself and change them anyway. Always good practice. But it would be nice to know if it is only people who actually use Playspan that are affected.
EDIT: I just checked the link that Nadia had posted and the update says that ArenaNet is not affected in any way. Thanks Nadia!

Yeah, I read about the hacking. It's fucking annoying as hell, but I guess nothing much to do against it as a player except changing passwords and such. But goddamn irritating.
